For nearly a decade, I struggled with hip injuries and slow progress with other PT’s. Last year I finally made progress on my hip, but soon after, my unadjusted muscle mechanics triggered a nerve-related ankle injury, which took me out of all physical activity and tempted me to quit. Some estimated that rehabilitation would take upwards of a year, but in my first session, I saw that R3 approaches recovery differently.Healing Comes from Within:Restoration began with the first phone call and (free) consultation visit. From the initial moments of chatting with the incisively positive Mikey to the extensive assessment with the conscientiously astute Dr. Julia, it became clear that recovery starts in the mind. They helped me internalize the physical and mental factors that determine comprehensive health, including alleviating pain, evaluating practices that exacerbate injury, planning a pathway towards strengthening, and vitally developing a core belief in that strength. These reaffirming mindsets were underlying principles throughout my program.Progress Develops through Accountability:R3 was quick to emphasize the importance of support networks. Each team member brought their personal passions and expertise to the process, which they leveraged to provide specialized care. Weren’t able to schedule with the doctor who specializes in your injury? Don’t worry; R3 regularly coordinates team meetings to compare notes and client progress, providing a holistic outlook on recovery. Within my first 3-4 visits, the team encouraged me to bring my athletic equipment to create sport-specific exercises (footwork, stability, and resistance training), reinforcing my strength, agility, reflexes, and focus. In my first session with the precise and sincere Dr. Des, we built on my progress with a focus on central and auxiliary body mechanics. Backed by the strong insight of Dr. Michael, the team spent a healthy portion of their days ensuring the approach to healing addressed the injury at both its core and its symptoms.Setbacks are Triumphs and Successes are Rewards:When I first returned to physical activity, I experienced what felt like a setback in my healing. This previously would have caused a demoralizing break from the game, but R3 emphasized that “setbacks” are opportunities to target areas of improvement. The re-injury only lasted 2 sessions, and the team made sure to celebrate this. They welcomed anyone to ring the “Personal Record Bell” at each milestone. These acts of inspiration kept the energy positive and motivating. Overall, I regained my mobility within 4 weeks and returned to practice within 12. The team encouraged me to embrace moments of re-learning my body and create a healthier relationship with myself.(Com)Passion Heals Intention:R3 utilized a variety of solutions ranging from technological guidance (e.g. exercise apps and video tutorials) to traditional forms of medicine (e.g. acupressure, cupping, and heat therapy). The doctors are active in discovering the newest research in health, and I am still surprised by the different methods the team employed. They were enthusiastic about teaching me how to identify techniques to enhance long-term health and were unwaveringly supportive of my mental well-being. This passion helped me return to my sport in my strongest-ever form.Health is an Intergenerational Investment:The cost of long-lasting health can be steep, but R3 offered flexibility in my investment. The team presented various pricing options to accommodate my needs around timeline, expectations, and availability. I could also purchase individual sessions at a locked-in rate based on my package. I returned to competition after 6 months of therapy and instantly saw results, medaling in my first 3 tournaments. I appreciated the team’s recommendation to “graduate” from recovery, in contrast to others who have prolonged my care. Still, I choose to schedule occasional appointments because R3 is truly a community of healers who invest in my health the way a family would. They taught me ways to love self-care.
