When I knew I needed a new roof for my 6 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home I fully researched everything I thought I needed to know and got 4 different quotes from 4 different roofing companies. The amount of the quotes varied greatly. The high end was $26k from Schoenherr Roofing and the low end was Certa for $12.5k. When I met with the owner Sam of Certa he was very straightforward and honest unlike the slick and overly polished sales reps from the other companies. What it came down to is that although Sam has 30 years of roofing experience, his company Certa roofing is small with only two work crews and the company has only been in existence for 2 years. Certa also doesn’t spend big money on advertising and public relations so they can substantially undercut the pricing of the larger more established companies like Schoenherr and Mr. Roof. Sam gave me a list of prior Certa customers as references so I called some of them and they had nothing but good things to say about the roofing work Certa did for them. When the roofing work was being done on my house Sam was present most of the time supervising and he gladly answered all of my questions. Sam got a permit and I fully expect the work on my house to pass inspection although the inspection hasn’t taken place yet because the work was completed just a few days ago. Certa gave me a 25 year warranty and there is no way to know if Certa will be in business for the next 25 years to honor it as it is a small and young company that is just starting out. For these reasons I can understand why Certa is so much cheaper than all of the other bigger more established roofing companies. All I can say is so far so good. From my perspective the work was high quality and it was done on time in a professional manner by a young and small company attempting to compete with larger and more established ones with bigger advertising budgets. Only time will tell if I made the right choice but 25 years from now if I’m still around I suspect that I will still think I made the right choice by going with Certa. The work was completed by Certa just a few days ago so at least up to this point I can say I highly recommend them.
