This was my birthday gift from myself on January 5th and as a solo traveler I have to say I was a little nervous about this but Adaya made it extra special she was awesome and made sure I was comfortable the whole time, I was concerned about getting nice pictures and she reassured me saying “don’t worry we’re going to make sure to get those pictures right” and helped me take some awesome pictures and videos it was a lot better than I expected, she definitely went above and beyond!!! Last weekend I joined my sister to ride horses at sunset on Amelia Island with this company. Due to inclement weather two weeks prior, the company reached out to us to reschedule or refund the booking, and it couldn’t have turned out any better when we were finally able to have this experience. It was my first time riding a horse, and I was paired with the most beautiful, calm, sweetest horse and instantly any lingering nerves went away. It is hard to put into words just how magical this experience was; a sunset horse ride on a beautiful beach was something I’d never imagine I would have an opportunity to do. This company and the experience exceeded our expectations. The guides were communicative throughout the entire booking process, and their professionalism and love for the horses immediately put us all at ease. It was very rewarding to share in this idyllic moment with other patrons, as it was palpable how happy everyone felt being there. I will forever remember the beauty of the ocean, the open sands, and the majestic horses riding alongside the shore. And when I am stressed I can look back on that memory to bring instant peace. I typically avoid negative reviews, but our beach horse-riding experience was so dangerous that I feel it's crucial to warn families with children. Despite our concerns about the weather, we proceeded with the excursion, trusting the guide. When we reached the halfway marker to turn around, the skies were ominously dark, and the trek back was a good 25 minutes. Within 5 minutes, it started to rain, and within another 5, thunder and lightning began. By 12-15 minutes in, we were in the midst of life-threatening conditions. For at least 10 minutes, we—an inexperienced family of four—were surrounded by lightning. The rain was manageable, but the severe thunder and lightning caused the horses to spook and trot faster, which terrified our youngest. Although we were advised not to scream to avoid spooking the horses, it was nearly impossible given the circumstances. The storm was so severe that sirens were sounding in the area, and several times we asked to take an earlier exit off the dunes, but this was denied. About 5 minutes before the end, lightning struck close by, prompting the guide to scream, “get off the horses now!” My children had to jump off their horses and run for shelter in the middle of a beach storm while my wife, the guide, and I gathered the horses. The parking lot was flooded, and two teenagers had to help our 8-year-old seek shelter. My phone was waterlogged and permanently damaged. This was not a typical Florida rainstorm; it was a significant and unsafe weather event. I understand that the company cannot control the weather, and I don’t wish to penalize the guide, who was truly kind and wonderful during both the safe and dangerous parts of the trek. However, I am deeply disappointed that our lives were put in danger for profit, especially after we advocated multiple times for ourselves due to the weather conditions. My youngest was traumatized by the experience, and I don’t say that lightly. We’ve lived through major weather events—hurricanes, blizzards, and tornadoes—and we respect mother nature. We suggested a rain check or refund, but this was not honored. It’s hard not to feel that the company prioritized profit over safety. If you review the radar from that Friday, it’s clear that this was a significant weather event that could have had tragic consequences. These excursions are not cheap, and we chose this over a day at Disney to create meaningful family memories. I reached out to the business owners afterward. Robin responded once, asking what I’d like to “do” about the situation. I replied, but received no further response, even after following up. The company got their money, and we got less than an hour of riding in unsafe conditions—for both us and the horses. I truly believe that on a good weather day, the ride would have been fantastic. This one was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. Bad judgment aside, the guide was excellent, but I urge the company not to endanger lives for profit, and I advise families, especially those with children, to be cautious if there’s any chance of bad weather. I’ll start this by saying that Bailey (the guide) was awesome. No complaints with her whatsoever. The problem was that on the ride back, the horses my wife and I were on (Luna & Jesse James) ostensibly got spooked and started galloping down the beach. In the process they started bucking and we were both thrown off! Thankfully we weren’t seriously hurt, but did end up with bruises/scrapes and some pretty bad soreness. We had to walk the horses the rest of the way back to the starting point. It was 90+ degrees out and we were drenched in sweat. We were told that was the first time such an incident had ever happened, which we do believe. It was already a pricey excursion, and I do wish we were offered at least a partial refund as we did not get to ride for the full hour. Otherwise, Bailey herself was great and highly recommend her. Just watch out with the horses. Less

Decided to try out Amelia Island Horseback Riding on my own before I bring my friend for her birthday in two months (I live here in Florida, she lives in Nebraska). Even though I help with english riding classes regularly, I was a little hesitant to go early, but I'm SO glad that I went for it! You'll ride western and the horses are very well taken care of. They also have the perfect horse to rider pairing, from a personality of the horse to the health/safety of the horse, to experience with riding. Could not have asked for a better experience and cannot WAIT to ride again in a couple months! Less
