We found Hedley House to be a perfect good value choice for our short stay in York, less than 10 minutes walk to the Minster in the town centre. Private parking can be reserved at the rear. It was a freezing cold night when I stayed and could not have received a warmer welcome. The room was immaculate, warm and I had the best sleep I’ve had in months as the mattress was perfect. I have stayed in many hotels in York but this is definitely the best. They have onsite parking which is a big plus. Very nice family owned guest house type establishmen, basically a row of 4 traditional 5 storey townhouses which we prefer to the big chain hotels as feel more homely ,nice facilities good bar and excellent breakfast ,Stopped in room 11 booked as superior double but was "upgraded" to deluxe ,room had all we needed nice shower room only minor niggle was that bed was 2 singles pushed together so could feel gap through topper that was on bed and mattress on soft side for me but that's all personal preference and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.... tip ...owner who was nice down to earth guy told me to book direct as they will sort price out to match so will try this next time,whether that will include genius discount from one of the booking sites we use I am unsure buy they do offer car parking too at rear ,location great handy for station and bootham tavern which has live music every Friday Saturday and Sundsy nights so worked well for us. We stay here every year and Hedley House never disappoints. The hotel itself is lovely and clean and very well-represented. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much for them. The rooms are fresh, modern and spacious. We had breakfast which was lovely, hot and just what you needed to start each day. Lovely 3 night stay at Hedley House, the staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. We knew the location which was great. Having parking and then use of a jacuzzi and garden area was a big plus. We had a big room split in 2, bathroom was very small but didn't put us off. We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights, we should have been on the 3rd floor but the manager put us on the 2nd floor as my partner had a crutch 🩼 to walk with. There was no lift so the stairs were a struggle for him. The room was clean, but would have liked fresh milk and more drinking chocolate, towels were rather rough, pillows were too firm. No bath either. Noise from people in room above children running around, not what i expected from a hotel. It seemed more like a guest house than a hotel.🏨 we didn't see much of the staff as we didn't have breakfast or evening meal, i don't really think it's for us, we like the rooms bigger and quieter so i don't think we will be staying again. Well, what can I say! What a wonderful place. We stayed here for 2 nights recently, and we were in a deluxe double room with the most lovely bathroom (one of the nicest we have seen). Very clean & nicely presented, everything you would need. It was extremely quiet considering how many guests were staying. The welcome book is very entertaining, worded very differently to the usual, and made me smile. We ate in the restaurant one evening & the food was delicious & very reasonably priced. The breakfast was also great with the choice of cereals, yougurts, juices, not a huge choice compared to some places but ample but this followed by a lovely cooked breakfast of which you choose exactly what you. Every member of staff we met were lovely, very helpful & very pleasant. The location was fantastic, just a 5 min walk to the city walls. Great 4 nights visiting our son and touring York. We even got a tremendous tour of the North Sea Coast (Whitby and RobinHood’s Bay) from a member of the staff. Absolutely the best in York. If your staying in York stay at the Hedley House. First impressions was warm and inviting. Colleen on first appearance was friendly and polite. A great host throughout. The building was beautiful and full of antiques and a lovely living room area and dining room. Their was a free included spa which we loved. Our room was bigger and better than expected. Heating was good. Unfloor heating in bathroom with heated towel rail was heaven. The bathroom was modern with brilliantly powerful shower. Overall all facilities were brilliant. Parking was easy to use and i felt safe leaving my car their for the duration. We had a Brill few days out and dinner and breakfast was alsk great. No complaints. Overall 10/ 10 this was our first holiday as a couple and would happly stay again. Only critique. Just me being OCD we did see a good few cobwebs around the building and room and one stained towel. Met Emily for the first time. She does the massage and beauty treatments at the hotel. We met sone of the staff who were very welcoming and friendly. We did nt stay at the hotel as we live near by. Emily is friendly we felt at ease straight away. I took my mum with me today sun 02.04.23 for a treat, we had back neck znd head massage for half an hr each. The cost was £30 each. We have spent two nights at the hotel and it is a disappointing stay. The location is good, we can get to most of the places in the city within 15 mins. However, the room management is not impressive - bathroom light was not working throughout the stay; toilet flushing is definitely a challenge; the pillow filling was sticking out and there is no way you can actually put them fully inside; the TV remote was missing the back cover and they used scotch glue as a solution… not good value for money given it’s more expensive than many of the nearby hotels Less

Lovely stay!! . Great food, great room and amazing Staff! Especially Rosie. Rosie was so kind, inviting and made our stay extra special. Our daughter is only 10 months old and Rosie went out of her way to make sure she was happy and comfortable.
