I wasn’t going to buy a caravan. In fact I had zero interest in buying a caravan.Still I went along willingly when my wife suggested it would be good for us to spend more time together as a family.My caravan knowledge up until this point was limited. In fact my only caravan experience was staying in one that Noah had taken off the Ark (and left in Balranald).It was not an experience I wanted to repeat.I need not have worried.The depth and breadth of caravans available was staggering. Not since I was last at the Tokyo Motor Show have I seen such a vast array of products. Some of which I didn’t know existed. I did not need most of them. That did not stop me from purchasing some of them.We ended up with the Essential Caravans Outlander. It is far greater in size than we need. I believe if I reconfigured correctly, I could certainly fit at least half a football team in it.I have also had to purchase a new vehicle to tow it with. The 200 series Sahara does tow it, providing I only took the dog in the car.The Ford F350 has proven itself to be more than capable. Fortunately I still have my MC licence. The whole thing is damn near as long (and I suspect nearly as heavy) as a road train.I cannot fault the staff at DBC. They were so patient and kind and understanding, even when I asked the same questions. Over and over again. When we arrived to collect the van, we were greeted by the General Manager. It made us feel special. His name was Matt. He was so welcoming and warm, it made us absolutely certain that we had made the right choice in choosing Dave Benson Caravans.8,000kms in, and I would have to say this is the best purchase I’ve made in the last 30 years. Second only to the shack we bought in Port Douglas in 1998. Us and the van plan to spend a lot of time travelling between Adelaide and there.I wanted to thank Matt and the entire team at DBC for supporting us in our journey. We walked into Dave Benson caravan just to simply look at secondhand for our first caravan to see if we actually liked it and weren’t going to kill each other. First impressions were awesome. There seemed to be caravans everywhere. The ambient sounds of birdlife piped throughout the dealership set the outdoor theme. The whole Undercover complex was very impressive and Exuded an air of peacefulness . Craig was first on the scene with a big smile and said let me show you what we’ve got . The very modern dark Grays mixed in with neutral interior colours was our first impression however what really stood out was the price. in saying that the price of these caravans were the price of advertised secondhand caravans that were more than 3 to 4 years old. That took her focus off of secondhand immediately. And then we saw it! A Class C with a slide out in the kitchen living area. We wanted it immediately as it was so spacious. We added more solar and lithium which gave us an off grid possibility. We ended up very excited with a very classy looking caravan that just looked quite stunning. We added a mini Starlink and portable printer and that’s it. We could work and play wherever we went. Accessory range Next Door was huge which helped us relieve any spare cash problems.
