We booked two separate days so we wouldn’t have to deal with parking and because we didn’t need a car for three days (although in the week we were staying nearby, we saw a deal for $33/day for 3 days minimum, which then turned into $23/day?). We picked it up at the Niu St location which was super convenient for us, but just know that you’ll have to drop off the car at their other parking garage location.We recommend to pick up the car within an hour of your reservation time.The smart cars specifically were a little jerky and you can really feel every pothole. But that’s just a product of having a small car on Hawaii roads.Tips for driving: *When choosing a gear, be really careful that you’re selecting the one you’re intending to. The gear shifts in a line, so you can really easily go into neutral instead of drive, which is important if you’re entering the parking garage*To open the smart car trunk, use the key fob.

My friend and I had a very positive experience with our car rental. We had the pleasure of Doc helping us and he did an amazing job of relaying all of the information we needed with a smile. For the price you’re getting, don’t expect big corp type car, you’ll get a vehicle that you need, that’s it! Be grateful and you’ll go far. Doc at the Niu branch and Juliet at the Seaside branch were tremendously professional and went out of their way to help me. They have my business whenever we’re on island. Mahalo!

The best rental decision I made on my trip. Marie was very helpful and accommodating to me as I wanted to do consecutive day rentals to avoid the high parking fees in Waikiki. Marie made the process seamless and I was able to enjoy the island freely without any worries. If you are staying in Waikiki and want to explore the island then I highly recommend 808. I highly recommend 808 Smart Rental Car in Seaside. The staff—especially the woman working there—was incredibly kind and attentive. She truly understands customers’ needs and goes above and beyond to make the experience smooth and comfortable. Her thoughtful service and genuine friendliness left a lasting impression on me.If anyone is visiting Hawaii—or if I come back myself—I will definitely rent a car from here again.
