Javi’s was recommended to us by a local, John with Ceviche Tours. We met him and his wife while at Punta Sur. We had the grilled fish w/ bacon marmalade and Parmesan crusted fish (both grouper). The fish was flavorful and the sides were as well. Great presentation of food too! My favorite was the shrimp cocktail in the sweet salsa. Of my goodness was it amazing! I can imagine it now AND wish I was back on the island to have more.We came in while Javi was conducting a Tequila Workshop and it was fun to see and experience Javi’s passion for his food and craft! We will visit again the next time we are on the island!Thank you John and Adrianna for the recommendation!

A hidden gem in Isla Mujeres! My sisters and I love to travel and find places that serve fresh caught. The fish was absolutely amazing! Then Javi arrives with a guitar and begins playing music which made our night. My sisters and I will be forever grateful we found this cantina. We found Javi's on our annual trip to the Island last year and knew then it would be a yearly visit! The food and atmosphere were a 20/10 epic experience, made extraordinaire by Javi playing and singing an array of sing a long favorites in Spanish, English and Spanglish. We had an absolute blast and will be back. This experience is not to be missed.

Javi’s is absolutely the best! Their Parmesan Fish (grouper) is the best fish I have ever eaten! We’ve been coming to the island for years and Javi’s is always the meal we look the most forward to. The music, the sweet lights of the courtyard- all of it is just awesome! Can’t wait to come back!

This was our first time going to Javis’s after visiting the island for years. The food was excellent, and the entertainment was great. The service was perfect and we will be back. It is quite small so I recommend reservations.

This place is so delicious! We had the mole verde, arrachera, sublime chicken with peppers and bacon. Started with the best guacamole and chips maybe I’ve ever had, and really good shrimp ceviche served whole halved style lined with super thin cucumber. Really good father/son guitar duo. I would come back here though I only have two days here. 😎I was too hungry to take photos. Take that where you will.

My mother and I were excited to spend our very last night on isla at Javi’s for a seafood dinner. This was to celebrate my birthday, and was on a Thursday. We had called a week in advance to see if a reservation was necessary (they said no) and confirmed they open until 10:00pm on Thursdays.We arrived at 9:03pm & Javi’s outdoor lights and sign were lit up and said OPEN. When we walked in and asked for a table for 2, the employees jumped up from the bar and said “kitchen is closed!” We were disappointed and walked out to the sidewalk. All of a sudden the lights were immediately shut off! Very, very disappointed in Javi’s.

We did a cooking class with Javi. It was a poblano pepper themed class. We made guacamole, pico de gallo, and chilis rellenos and had a poblano infused margarita. Javi was knowledgeable and fun and a great story teller. We will take the mole class next time we are on IM.

Javi’s is consistently great food, drinks and atmosphere! Last night was exceptionally special as not only did we enjoy a fantastic filet mignon meal paired with sensational grilled pineapple margaritas, entertainment was provided by a traditional Mexican dance group. The senorita’s dresses were beautiful. The performance was a surprise to us and made for a fantastic dinner experience.

We had dinner and an authentic Mexican dance show with live music last night. The service and recipes were superb! The courtyard dining was all kinds of charming, and the prices were entirely reasonable. Best spot on the island for a slightly upscale but relaxing evening on the island that we've found so far. Javi has something truly special going on here. Reservations online are highly recommended.
