I started my BJJ journey February 2025 and have seen so much growth thanks to this gym and community ❤️Kyle, Mario, Ashley, and Matt have been amazing and supportive since day 1. I recommend trying this sport out here specifically, even if you are only 10% interested in BJJ. It has been a great way to relieve stress while simultaneously burning calories. I joined Clockwork Jiu Jitsu Rockaway about a month ago having zero prior experience in Jiu Jitsu or martial arts. I could not recommend it enough! Since day 1, I have felt welcomed and a part of the community. What I most appreciate is that everyone has been extremely patient with me. Instead of being frustrated with my inexperience, my classmates gladly take the time to slowly work through movements, answer my questions and even teach me new skills. Kyle (the coach) has always made me feel that he truly wants me to succeed.Clockwork Jiu Jitsu Rockaway is also a professional environment. It is kept extremely clean! Classes have a defined structure. I appreciate that they perfectly balance having a strong, welcoming community while also upholding core values, which is hard to find. I feel safe knowing that anything questionable will not be tolerated.Jiu Jitsu gives you the real-life self defense skills, high intensity workout and community with very low concussion risk! (Compared to contact sports and other forms of MMA) My advice to those that are completely new is to come mentally and physically prepared. Jiu Jitsu is hands down the most challenging but most rewarding thing I have ever done. You easily burn double (if not triple) the calories than you would in the gym because you lose all track of time, becoming completely focused on the moment. I appreciate this because anything occupying your mind goes right out the window.If you're considering joining, definitely take this post as your sign to do so! Thank you so much Kyle!

I joined Clockwork Jiu Jitsu in Rockaway in Feb 2025 and it has been the best thing I could have done for myself. Just from doing trial class, I knew this place was different than any other martial arts I've been to in the past. Coaches Kyle, Matt, and Mario are the best at creating a safe environment and a sense of community to anyone who walks in. Competing has always a goal of mine and I never saw myself doing them anytime soon but I've done both in-house and open competitions with their encouragement and trust. However the best part for me is how fun it is being in class, despite the intensity and periods of fatigue. Continuing to learn and train at Clockwork is something I look forward to everyday.

In short Clockwork Jiu Jitsu Rockaway Chapter has been more than your average Jiu Jitsu gym. The owners/instructors are welcoming and encouraging at every step of the process. They’re not only skilled in their practice but they are genuinely passionate about teaching and foster a supportive community. Rockaway is a small community and I often felt it lacked places to foster community involvement and camaraderie; but Clockwork Jiu Jitsu is just the place! I have experienced a lot of personal and physical growth and I owe it to the instructors guidance. I Look forward to continuing my jiu jitsu journey with Clockwork for many years to come! I would give more stars if I could!

We’ve tried so many activities with our 7-year-old daughter nothing really clicked, until we found Clockwork Jiu Jitsu Rockaway Chapter. Now she absolutely loves jiu jitsu, and seeing her so excited, confident, and eager to go to class makes us beyond happy as parents. Coach Kyle and Coach Matt are incredible. They’re true professionals with high level skills, and They’re not the only high-level instructors, everyone is so patient, caring, and encouraging. The whole environment here is amazing positive, welcoming, and filled with people who lift each other up. Finding Clockwork has been the best decision we’ve made. Thank you for giving our daughter something she’s passionate about and helping by her grow in such a supportive community. We couldn’t recommend this place more! 🥋🙏🏼
