If you’re reading this, you are probably trying to find an assisted living and/or memory care home for your family member. I did the same thing when trying to find a place for my mom. I read all of the reviews and toured numerous facilities in Tucson. After an exhaustive search, I chose Copper Canyon. After almost a year, I could not be more satisfied with my choice. As other reviewers have mentioned, the staff at Copper Canyon truly care about their residents. I have visited at all hours of the day and night, and without fail, I observed the caregivers treating the residents with real respect, regardless of their cognitive condition. It could be as simple as combing a resident’s hair because they noticed it was needed, or just listening to their concerns. In my opinion, it’s the small things that I have seen from the staff which reveal the type of people working there. One staff member that has truly made my mom’s transition to Copper Canyon easy has been April Walker, Nurse Clinical Director. From day one, my family and I have been comforted by how involved April has been in the details of mom’s medical conditions. If anything changes, April has been quick to reach out and let me know what’s going on. I’m completely confident that April or the Wellness Coordinator, Alessandro Solis, would be on top of any medical issues. It has to be a tough task to care for people with varied cognitive and medical conditions, but from my experience, Copper Canyon has found the balance. The food and food service make my mom feel like she’s eating in a restaurant three times day. She loves all of the activities offered. So much so, several times when she has been out with our family, she mentioned that she wanted to get back in time for bingo, yoga, or some other activity.Bottom line…my mom loves living at Copper Canyon. What else could you ask for?
