I finally made it to Mamba Caribbean Buffet. I'd seen the signs and just couldn't time it right until today. The set up is clean and cute. My young host was polite and very knowledgeable and friendly about their offerings. He explained the different fruit drink offerings and I chose the pineapple and pear. I was seated and he showed me where the buffet was. Many chicken beef and pork dishes, flavorful riced, plantains fried and some whipped!(highly recommend). Delicious frijoles, salads and so many other sides! Everything is fresh, not too much salt, perfectly prepared and reminded me of eating at that one relative that should have a restaurant's house. This little hole in the wall buffet is so good. It took us a little while to come here because I wasn't sure if it was just a lunch buffet or if they had a buffet for dinner too (I tried calling both numbers they had listed and neither worked), but we finally went in and found out they do have a dinner buffet. The price was very reasonable, more like what I would expect to be paying for an entree at another place as opposed to a buffet. The buffet selection is small but not in a bad way, it was the perfect amount of food to have a good variety of choices but not overstuff yourself too much because there's too many things you want to try. Nothing was labeled but everything was delicious. I loved the empanadas (one was beef and another had chicken) and my husband really liked some kind of stewed brisket style meat. This place was delicious. Everything there was hot and ready. The stew pork and rice were especially good and the morir soñando lived up to its name. My wife loved the bananas on the side. Oh my goodness! What's not to love?! My husband and I had our event cancelled due to snow so we decided to get dinner. Not only did Michael let us in when they had just decided to choose early but he and his wife personally brought out several plates of food they had just put away. It was all SO DELICIOUS. Absolutely delightful experience. The selection is smaller than other buffets I've been to, but every dish is a hit. I had more trouble fitting everything I wanted on my plate than I have at buffets 3-4 times the size, and I wasn't disappointed by a single dish. The food was authentic, hearty Dominican Republic cuisine, and it was all incredible. Service was quick, easy, and friendly. The atmosphere was also very good, with a very tidy appearance and light, cultural decor. A few miscellaneous things I appreciated to add: the plates and bowls were along the whole buffet, under the food, making access super easy, and the beverages (just ice water for our group, but I saw others with more adventurous options) were served in large mason jars. Finally, I'll mention that if you're big on supporting small businesses or immigrant businesses, this place is a great option, as the entire (currently very small) staff are immigrants, and the owner is the operator. The food here was amazing! I have never before been so surprised and pleased by the variety and taste availability in a buffet. I couldn’t tell you how authentic it was, but it sure tasted Caribbean. The buffet rotates - when a dish is empty it’s replaced by a new, unrelated, dish - so I can’t guarantee anything specific, but it was all hot and perfectly seasoned. This restaurant deserves all the love. Not only was the food amazing, packed with tons of flavor, but the service was kind and genuine. You don't get that everywhere, as it tends to be a specialty of mom and pop shops like this. What we ordered: Empanadas for the kids (comes with a delicious dipping sauce), ropa vieja for myself, and mashed yucca plate for my husband with 3 golpes, then the shrimp stew just to try it out. All of it blew us away. We ended the night with their delectable flan (the caramel on top is *chef's kiss*). So you could say this is a new favorite. But it appears to also be other's as well, because they were out of a few things by the time we went late Saturday night. No worries. They're still fairly new, and so worth your time. We also got the Ropa Vieja which is basically roast meat and rice and beans but the flavor was immaculate and the texture was spot on. All were excellent with distinct flavors and sauces but the tripleta and empanadas were my favorites. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food.
