We hired Mag for a documentary style photo shoot of our family (6 adults). Throughout the process, Mag was very clear about what we should expect. She found a unique location that provided a beautiful backdrop for our photos and sent us the finished product soon after the photo shoot.

Timeless Tales: I engaged Mag Barry to photograph my 91-year-old father earlier this year at her studio in Edmonton. It was a truly wonderful and memorable experience for both my Father and I as a spectator, as Mag worked non-stop to capture some amazing photos!To describe my Father as anxious in advance of the photo shoot is an understatement. But Mag’s reassuring and relaxed welcome made my Father increasingly at ease. Background music set the perfect mood while Mag brilliantly coached my Father through the shoot. With her upbeat personality and entertaining conversations with my Father, he soon forgot he was being photographed! Mag has that extra something that helped my Father feel relaxed and able to open-up and by the end of the shoot he was having a blast, feeling empowered and confidently striking poses!Mag took hundreds of photos during our 90-minute shoot and edited them down to a stunning set of images. Beyond Mag’s natural photographic talent, I was particularly impressed by Mag’s natural emotional intelligence, genuine interest and empathy for her subject, in this case, my 91-year-old Father. Mag’s passion to make a deep connection through the questions she asked and conversations she engaged in with my Father added a special quality and dimension to the session and ultimately to his photographs. Our family are still in awe with the entire portrait series of my Father which truly reflected his character. THANK YOU MAG! I'd seen some of Mag's photos from friends and was impressed by the artistry and mood she captured. When my first child gave birth to my first grandchild, I remembered the baby pictures we had taken back then and knew we could do better.To be clear, there was nothing wrong with the older photos, they were in focus and showed good expressions, but Mag's photos show movement and emotion. You can see the love and joy between Mother and Child, Grandma and Baby, everyone and the dogs playing and showing their true selves because they've forgotten Mag is in the room clicking away.We were at home, where Sammy was most comfortable. I wanted to clean up the room, but Mag said "relax". She wanted to capture us being normal - with all the mess and chaos life with grandma, a baby and dogs includes.Mag is wonderfully cheerful, enthusiastic and accepting of interruptions. When Sammy needed a break, he got it. As a result, the usual tension and pressure to "look at the camera and smile" melted away. We're not models with perfect faces and bodies but we're real. The smiles are genuine, so are the other expressions because we were just playing.That's how Mag does documentary photography. She catches the moments when the light and shadows are right and somehow, she makes real people look perfect just the way they are.Thanks for the memories!Steffanie

Mag took hundreds of photos from which she selected 30, which were fully edited. The result was stunning and very emotional. If you want a lasting memory, it’s well worth the effort and price.

I had so much fun working with Mag, she is a true professional! I recently did some head shots for my business and they turned out amazing. The process was very smooth, Mag shared her expertise from what to wear and bring to the studio to what poses to do. I will work Mag again! Highly recommended!
