Before starting Functional Patterns Minnesota, I had already spent most of my life wrestling and training hard, but I had accumulated some brutal injuries along the way some of them including whiplash, concussions, torn intercostals, ankle injuries, chronic neck stiffness, and persistent low back pain. I had also practiced yoga for over 7 years because I thought that if wrestling and lifting were compressing my body, then stretching and “loosening up” would solve the problem. I had personal trainers, bodybuilding was seeing a chiropractor for years, had university S&C coaches guiding form during lifts and was really immersed into health and fitness culture. Despite thinking I was athletic and in tune with my body, I was still dealing with chronic pain, taking muscle relaxers, and had very limited awareness of my actual structure and movement patterns. After getting fed up with feeling broken at such a young age, I finally decided to try Functional Patterns and spent a summer training with Frida at Functional Patterns Minnesota. Within just the first few months, I not only experienced significant pain relief, but also developed a much deeper awareness of my body and movement. I vividly remember thinking, “I’ve spent my whole life in health and fitness, but I’ve never had someone position and cue me in a way that made me feel like I was literally floating through the air.” The precision of the training and coaching was unlike anything I had experienced before. And that was after just a summer of training!Functional Patterns Minnesota gave me hope and helped me regain my physicality. It not only helped me rehabilitate old injuries, but also played a major role in helping me manage and eventually go into remission from Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism an autoimmune disease that also came with a vast array of symptoms that negatively impacted my life at all levels.Over the years, I’ve also watched FPMN help people from all walks of life improve their posture, movement, chronic pain, strength, gait, and overall quality of life. The gym environment is welcoming, supportive, and genuinely focused on long-term health and biomechanics.I 10/10 recommend training with any of the practitioners here if you’re serious about improving your movement, posture, chronic pain, or overall health.
