Four years ago, I retired and my gym closed within a few months. I was looking for some structure as I knew working out was beneficial to my overall health, but I had been lacking the motivation to do so. I spent most of my workouts on cardiovascular training, ignoring the weight training. My weight constantly fluctuated, my strength as I got older was poor and my endurance was almost nonexistent. I responded to a 6-week trial at Train 2 Xcel, hoping this might be the answer I was looking for, it was!
The trainers were there to guide you. They take the time to know what you need, when to give that extra push, or realize that some days you might not be able to give 100%. They know how to motivate! It makes a big difference having a trainer work with you every session. I've had 2 surgeries during my four years here, and was able to return to the gym quicker, as they wrote up my workouts to help keep me moving and get back to where I was.
One thing I did not expect to happen there, was the friendships I have made. Getting to know other members, working out with them, whether it is a metabolic class, or a semiprivate lesson really helps me want to go to the gym. I look forward to being there. I never thought that I could say that working out can be fun, but it is here.
I'm 62, I take care of my 2-year-old grandson 2 days a week, I'm an avid golfer, and I enjoy walking. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for the staff at Train 2 Xcel, and they're knowledge and expertise, I would not be in truly the best shape of my life.
