London Vision Clinic

I wanted to wait for my 1 month follow up before I posted this review, just in case 😅.And now, one month on, I can honestly say it’s been life-changing.This feedback is going to be long but I hope it can help other people who are thinking about having ICL surgery.I feel lucky that my journey to my ICL surgery so far has been a walk in the park, but is it luck or is it because I had looked into it beforehand in depths, I knew what to expect and I also knew that I was in extremely safe hands with Prof. Reinstein and completely trusted London Vision Clinic? You can get ICL in many places but two things to bear in mind are:1. The places that are cheaper often only include the first week follow up, any further appointments are on top and you need at least 3 more in the first year, and that is if you don’t have complications, so go somewhere where you can get at least 1 year aftercare.2. The ICL measurement taken by LVC is unbelievably precise and this is because they use a very high-frequency ultrasound scanner called Artemis Insight 100 which enables highly accurate ICL sizing and placement. Reinstein himself developed this technology but you can find it in other clinics too, so just do your research. The hardest bit out of all this process was being make-up and contact lenses free for a week to take the lens measurements and to also stay an additional whole week make-up and creams free after surgery and yes, that’s how shallow I am. So just on these basis, I think it’s an easier process for men rather than women, but apart from this, it was really a speedy recovery for me.The operation itself was a bit longer than I expected (approx. 1 hour but most of it it’s prep really), but not painful in any way, I actually found it quite mesmerising; during the op it felt a bit like looking into a kaleidoscope and Prof. Reinstein quietly talked me through every step.I wanted to be sedated but they didn’t think I needed to, so I only had the local anaesthetic but they were right, I didn’t need to be sedated, I was fine!I still can’t believe I let someone operate my eyes while being awake, but I trusted him entirely and I wanted to sort my vision so much that it was all fine in the end.I could see straight away from the operation room and it was quite overwhelming after spending all my life with glasses/contact lenses. Medicine is extraordinary and the team at LVC are all extremely skilled. They do these operations all the time and while this is such a huge step for us, we are really just a number to them and tbh, when it comes to surgery, you want to be a number, you want someone who has done that op a billion times, which is why I chose LVC.Post op, I had no halos and no light sensitivity, I didn’t even take a paracetamol, I was literally fine the moment I left the clinic but I still took all the compulsory post op eye-drops as advised right up till yesterday. For me, this has been one of those rare decisions where everything just worked. If you’re considering ICL, my advice would simply be: do your research, choose your surgeon carefully, go somewhere you truly trust and organise your diary to take extra time off and chill, enjoy a bit of slow life the first week post op.Forever grateful to the team at LVC and the care received throughout this journey.
