(NEW INFO: OPINION NEW ROOF MUST BE ENTIRELY REPLACED) Apollo skipped inspections, vented the roof incorrectly, failed to complete the reroofing so that a serious leak occurred at the first rainfall, damaged siding and seamless gutters which were replaced with a poor corner seam. Once the venting was brought to the attention of the inspections department, the final approval was reversed but instead of correcting venting Apollo brought in an attorney to put a lien on the property and threaten foreclosure proceedings (even though funds were set aside for payment upon completion). The roof is ineligible for the five star warranty offered by Certainteed even while Apollo claims in advertising to be high quality. They also insisted that plywood be included in the quote even though they had not done the tear off to check, and then skipped over the tear off inspection. At first the roof only had venting around the top of the roof, existing gable vents and a few "low profile" vents they added. I questioned how there could be airflow at the lower part of the roof. They came back and added more vents lower on the roof but they weren't the right kind of vents and they weren't supposed to mix vents (low profile and gable). Certainteed will warrant the shingles against manufacturer defect but if the shingles deteriorate from improper venting that is not considered a manufacturer defect. I requested a change order which was worded vaguely. The owner refused to provide the names of the crew. There was never an English speaker present on any of the inspection dates, so it seemed like the crew was unsupervised. It has been a struggle to get the company to bring the roof venting up to the manufacturers instructions. While Apollo is "Shingle Master Select" certified by Certainteed, and Certainteed claims they have the ability to install the proper venting, I would question whether the crew has received this training.
