I've had great experiences with Dr. Chavez for multiple cleanings. He always explained what was going on with my teeth and how I could improve my dental hygiene. The treatment itself was very thorough, always asking if I'm comfortable. They're very flexible with scheduling and I recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist.

If you want to have the best experience with the absolute best results, then you should look no further. Dr. Chaves is not only an outstanding and recognized dentist, but possesses a wonderful knack for explaining the best treatment possible for you; never trying to have you undergo anything unnecessary, and he delivers, if not exceeds the results discussed.An added bonus is that he’s funny. A funny dentist? That certainly is not something you run across very often. His staff are always very accommodating. Just wait until you meet the two regulars. I call them L squared. Both talented in their own right, very experienced at what they do and funny as heck. I became a patient of Dr. Chaves through dumb luck, but I believe it was fate. Honestly, you cannot do better than this guy.

Used a Groupon for a cleaning and exam. The office was clean, professional staff, did not meet Dr. Chaves. Was asked if I floss by the hygienist. I told her I do. Because, I do. I keep a container of floss on my desk for after lunch in addition to flossing every morning. Started working on my teeth. Asked if I was "SURE" I floss. Yes. I understand what flossing is and whether I do it. Maybe here, if you're finding issues or evidence that the flossing isn't doing its job, offer some insight of more effective methods of flossing rather than become increasingly cold and passive-aggressively implying I'm lying. What a stupid thing to lie about, what point would there be in that? Dentist came in, felt like she couldn't be less interested in the state of my teeth. Started the exam, promptly cut my lip open with one of her tools, gave a disingenuous 'sorry' and then spoke only to the hygienist in numbers about my teeth. Finished the exam, told me I need a half-crown. Hygienist tells me "you HAVE to floss." Again, implying I've been lying. I felt the need to point out that she doesn't believe me, but I do floss and actually enjoy flossing. The receptionist then asked me if I wanted a quote for "all the work that needs to be done," none of which was mentioned or explained to me besides the crown. No thank you. Learn some bedside manner, ladies.

Dr. Chaves is hands down the most amazing dentist. He's much more than that though. He is someone who really cares about his patients, and not just their teeth. He has gone out of his way to make sure I am always taken care of. I have a full set of veneers that were done by him. Recently I broke one of my front veneers. Dr. Chaves immediately got me in the next day, took care of my smile. My wife started seeing him too. She also loves him! We have a little girl on the way and she will for sure see him too when that time comes. I highly recommend Dr. Chaves and his staff!

Dr. Chaves did a set of 20 veneers for me. I've always wanted a perfect smile. I'm blown away. They look amazing. I've had them for a few months and I couldn't be happier. I get compliments on them all the time. Dr. Chaves is such a pro and goes to great lengths to make sure your teeth are absolutely perfect. Couldn't be happier I chose him. If you are on the fence about who to choose, I suggest you at least go do a consultation with Dr. Chaves.

I was not seen at this office but at his woodland hills office. I've had 4 root canals by Dr Chaves, and all 4 of them needed to be re-root canal-ed with in a year. One of the crowns he put on after the root canal was faulty so I need that tooth eventually extracted, so I had tooth #30 extracted Aug 2012 and a top tooth not sure of # it's the 2nd molar on right upper side. They were both so badly pulled I lost a great deal of bone so now I cant get an implant that was planned after the extraction. I have nerve damage in my tongue and lip that from the damage, a bad lisp, and a burning sensation in my mouth which I heard is also from nerve damage. I'm a mess! I now need an oral surgeon to repair all the damage to get me back to normal to get implants Which is big bucks! I have to go through a 4-6 hour surgery and have bone removed from my hip to replace all the bone loss. Mind you I had gone back to show Dr Chaves the problem several times and he said I was fine. He would not admit his fault in this disaster. I have been in pain for 21/2 years. Due to Dr. Chaves faulty root canals both 1 & 2 my two front teeth the first time failed in 2012. I asked him to pay to have these done right. He refused and said he will re do them and that he was confident they would work this time so I let him redo them January 2013 which failed again as per Dr. Lazarou from Southern California Endodontic Group around february 2013 after 2nd root canal failed. My oral surgeon said Dr. Chaves could have messed me up anymore if he tried. He has ruined the past 21/2 years of my life and more to come since the oral surgeon said I now have permanent nerve damage. So for the rest of my life I will lisp, burn and feel numb in my tongue and lip. Ever since the last root canals in January 2013 I now have a fungus that has been growing on my tongue and roof of mouth. I have been to hospital; three times due to this. Dr. John M. Chaves needs to no loner practice dentistry. I called him today 3/5/15 at his office telling him I need help to fix the pain that I am enduring meaning wanting him to take responsibility for his wrong doing and send me to someone who can help me and with no charge of course He was rude and hung up on me. I called back three times after he hung up on me and he wouldn't talk to me. I tried suing this dentist but suing a doctor is like seeing the pope. He's cocky and arrogant stay away from Dr. Chaves.

I know I'm not the only one who doesn't love going to the dentist, but I'm glad I've finally been able to find a go to dentist in the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area. Quite simply, Dr. Chaves is the best.Dr. Chaves is not only super friendly and nice but he is also very professional. I always feel like I'm in good hands with him and he always explains to me exactly what he's doing and I'm always satisfied afterwards.On top of that, the price is very reasonable and the front office staff is very helpful and courteous as well.Highly recommended
