When I got my golden retriever puppy, I thought training classes would be enough for me. I was wrong. Caroline achieved the impossible… I never thought that my two-year-old dog would be comfortable in a crate as he hadn’t been crate-trained (and I’d been told by a previous trainer that he wasn’t meant for the crate!) but thanks to her extreme patience, expertise, and positive approach, he now goes in willingly and stays calm and comfortable. Sandy is an almost 11 year old dog who has always had anxiety, allergy and gut issues. Some of her issues have improved significantly since we moved here from Vancouver a year and a half ago. However, after taking her to a groomer soon after our move, she developed stress colitis and became increasingly reactive and aggressive towards us in attempts of grooming and even being picked up. After the vet checked her to rule out physical issues, she referred us to Caroline. After 3 sessions with her, we have seen some significant changes in Sandy’s behavior. While we have a way to go, Caroline helped us understand cues Sandy was giving us. We are developing a much healthier relationship with our furry little girl when it comes to grooming and general cooperation. Sandy seems happier and we are happier too.Caroline is a very good communicator and clearly loves the work she does. She is very conscientious and provided us with a wealth of information. While we had a trainer early in Sandy’s life, we did not get the same kind of help as Caroline provided. We picked up our puppy Harry when he was 10 weeks old. It’s been years since we’ve had a puppy in our lives and we realized pretty quickly that we were beyond rusty in how to raise/train a puppy.So we reached out to Caroline at Raising Rover, through a word of mouth referral. Loved her website and her approach seemed to be a compatible one to our way of thinking.We’ve just completed the 8 week puppy training course and it’s been fantastic!! It’s truly a human owner training course as well, and we recommend Caroline 1000%. She is calm and gentle and endlessly supportive!! And even more so with our puppy! She is, at the same time, incredibly attuned to what puppies are feeling and needing. We call her our puppy’s lawyer!! She’s taught us a ton, with seemingly endless patience on her part + a healthy dose of humour and we’re grateful to have come into her orbit. Simply put, Caroline is incredible. She has changed our lives for the best! Caroline helped us unlocked a capacity to learn in our dog that we had not known was there, and we are truly better pup parents because of Raising Rover. If you are even considering hiring a dog trainer, do not hesitate to book with Raising Rover!My husband and I got both of our Yorkies at different times during COVID-19, which really stunted their socialization. Our first pup, Josie, is quite independent and generally well behaved. We quickly established a wonderful routine with Josie and felt we were able to take her everywhere with us without issue. She adapted easily, listened to us, and fell into our schedule without hesitation. Josie made pet parenting so easy that we decided to get a second pup, Gordie. Training was much harder with Gordie. Admittedly, we were lax and didn't provide the opportunities that Gordie needed to succeed. Our failure to enforce basic training early on in Gordie's life, combined with his super playful, energetic nature caused reinforced communication issues. Gordie barked at everything and everyone, could not follow basic commands, and really struggled behaviorally on walks. After many failed attempts to follow training videos on YouTube and advice from friends, we were feeling discouraged and overwhelmed. We knew we needed to seek help.After moving to Toronto, we reached out to Caroline in June 2025. From our initial consultation, we were blown away by her interest in our situation, compassion, and willingness to help. By July, we had enrolled in her program. Her pricing is beyond fair and she strives to make herself available for her clients. We were especially pleased that she was willing to come to us for training. Prior to our first lesson, we were worried that Gordie may not respond to training, but already felt confident that we would learn something from Caroline. She quickly identified the clear communication issue between us and Gordie, amongst other factors contributing to our mutual frustration. Caroline left us with manageable homework and several exercises. Between lessons, Caroline was super communicative, checking in on our progress and providing resources for success. With each lesson, we learned several things about ourselves and our dog. Caroline was even accommodating to our multi-dog household, catering her teaching to our situation.After training all summer, we have now completed Caroline's program. Though our progress was not always linear, it was always positive. We learned more than we could have ever imagined from Caroline, both about how we can better interact with our dog and to better respond to how he expresses himself to us. Our friends and family say that Gordie is a completely different dog - he's still just as playful, energetic, and affectionate as ever, but he is able to control his emotions and better communicate with us. We had the best experience with Caroline! This is the first dog for both myself and my husband and we had no idea where to begin with training. Caroline walked us through the basics with ease and then modified her lessons based on what we wanted to accomplish with training. She is so skilled with puppies and helped us gain comfort quickly. We adopted our dog Welly about a year and half ago from a pug rescue. He is the sweetest dog, but unfortunately had some trust issues and would occasionally lash out and bite. Caroline was referred to us from our veterinarian and we are very happy to have met with her. She is a great teacher and showed us how to have a better relationship with Welly and also understanding dog behavior. As a result of working with Caroline, Welly has become much more calmer and we no longer worry about his aggressive tendencies since we now understand why they happened and how to avoid them. We couldn’t even get him off our front lawn without him barking at everything in sight. My golden doodle Dillon had become reactive to other dogs, anxious and barking at random times in her 3rd year. Help was needed and fortunately for us, we found Caroline and the Terrific Teen sessions. Caroline focused on Dillon from the first minute of the first session – no time was wasted. Dillon and Caroline bonded immediately, enhancing the training sessions. Caroline is simply amazing. I contacted her to assist with training my new, 8 week old, Rottweiler puppy. As always when working with her she was quick to respond and to arrange a program for my puppy.Over the two month training program she demonstrated an amazing aptitude at not only training my dog, but also giving me the tools to reinforce and to progress the training on my own time. Her approach to training is very positive and effective and I felt confident that my puppy would get all the skills she’d ever need through Caroline’s training.And the results certainly show it! At four months my dog is remarkably well trained on leash, has great recall and can calmly sit in place with distractions around her (and quite a bit more). Me and my pup Eddie can't recommend Caroline and Raising Rover enough. We had a private lesson for leash reactivity, after having done group reactivity lessons with another company and a couple private lessons with other trainers. Caroline couldn't have been more helpful or easier to work with. I got in touch with Caroline because ever since we had our daughter last fall, our dog would no longer walk with me. He would just immediately lie down and refuse to go anywhere. He would walk fine with my husband, and had no issues with me in the house, but I couldn't get him to leave the house with me (with or without the baby). We did three sessions with Caroline; she used the time efficiently and always followed up with detailed notes and resources. Worked with Caroline on a personal training program for our 1 year old Doodle. We did a combination of basic command training as well as tackling more complex issues such as frustration, reactivity, and separation anxiety.Some of Caroline's greatest strengths:- Getting down to business right away in every lesson. I have known some trainers to just run out the clock while not getting much accomplished. Caroline respects and understands that for the premium price you pay for private training means you need to get the most bang for your buck.- She was truly invested in our dog's progress. We enrolled in the reactivity class bc our dog (and I) were attacked by a much bigger dog when they were a puppy. She was bitten thru to the skin and I was left with bruises all over my arm. Luckily it was winter and I had on a thick coat.As a result our dog is extremely fearful of bigger dogs. We did everything to “train it out of her” but it got worse and worse.With Caroline’s help we are working through the fear as a family WITH our dog, no longer forcing or cajoling her into losing the fear. You need to take the class to understand what I’m talking about.We want to extend a huge thank you to Caroline for the reactivity class. It has been a game changer for us.We all feel calmer and more confident and most importantly we are there for our dog to let her know that we are here to protect her even if the fears are just in her head, poor thing. For her it’s still very real. Thanks Caroline for deepening our love and understanding not just of this dog but of all dogs out there. 🙏
