If you haven’t been, you NEED to go to the Shalimar in Rensselaer. The owner is absolutely amazing. Friendly, welcoming, and professional. The food is beyond delicious. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan. Portions are large and the price is great! We usually get takeout but decided to go dine-in and we were NOT disappointed. The owner was so lovely to us and even gave us some freebies. Places like this make you want to come back over and over again. Want a little taste of India? Head on over to Shalimar Greenbush! Huge portions, tasty food. Tried the mix over rice and it was extremely flavorful. The service was amazing as well. My fiancé said “they could throw trash at me and I’d still give them 5 stars, lol”

I ordered for takeout and when I got there, an item on the order was missing. However, they made this up by offering me a free lassi and appetizer for the wait (which wasn't very long). The food was great too. Good food, good customer service, 5 stars from me!

This my 3rd time this week ordering tandoori chicken to eat. I'm ordering the same thing again, because it's delicious. I'm planning to come eat at the buffet soon to sample more things, so I'll know what to get for future orders.

Food and service was above and beyond. Ordered takeout and when I arrived to pick up my food I was greeted with a smile and offered soda on the house. Some of the best chicken tikka masala I’ve ever had. The chicken was so tender, cooked to perfection. The spice was spot on. The garlic and onion naan a must. You have to try them out.

I wasn’t a big fan of this type of food until I discovered Shalimar. And the first time I came I got some sort of beef dish which was delicious but then I tried my fiancés butter chicken and it was absolutely out of this world. And this quickly by far became my favorite restaurant.Today I stopped in with my family and had a beautiful birthday dinner for my fiancé. And I met the owner who is a wonderful man. 10/10 food and hospitality this is by far my favorite restaurant of all time.
