I am a 5’10, 150lbs female purple belt. In general a gi that fits is an expensive joke, but not this one. My FNTQ sizes are: Pants: A0 XL for long legs and narrow hips.. Top: A1L for my long arms and boarder shoulders I really love that I was able to mix and match and FNTQ was really helpful with all my questions. Ensuring the perfect fit. I dried the hell out of both of them and the gi now fits like a DREAM! The pockets are cool but my favorite feature is belt. Now, when I’m getting after it, I no longer have deal with finishing a roll with my gi pants 1/2 way off. My FNTQ gi is the only gi that I own that STAYS on my narrow rear end.. I would recommend this gi to anyone.

This is my all-time favorite gi. The pants are amazing. Comfortable and stretchy enough for me to move. I can't brag about them enough. The top is also very comfortable. The search for the perfect fitting gi is over! Being able to order the top and bottom in different sizes eliminates the issue of a illfitting uniform! And I dig the pockets and elastic waist to keep the gaps away! The pants are sized like casual pants, so there is no agonizing over inseam length or having it altered. This gi has answered all my issues! I ordered the A1S pants and A1H top.

The overall fit of the Gi is amazing, but I love the pants. Having pockets when you want them, and the ability to hide them when you don’t is such a nice option that I never knew I cared about until I started wearing FNTQ. The belt is a huge improvement over the standard drawstring options out there. The pants look legit and you can easily wear them out and about before or after class and not feel like you stand out. In terms of quality of the material, it holds up great. When you get a grip on pants it doesn’t feel like you might rip a seem or anything even if you are rolling super hard. Just to be clear that this is a genuine review… I’ll try to leave an honest opinion on an area people might complain about: The only thing negative I can say is that pants seem to take a little longer to dry, but that just means let them hang an extra day. Nothing crazy though and doesn’t have much of an impact in my training.Otherwise the price may be an issue for some folks, but I think the quality justifies the price a lot more than other big brands that have much lower quality and charge even higher prices in some cases. If you are looking for a super cheap gi for a trial class… shop Amazon but if you take BJJ seriously and are/have been training for years… then this is an awesome gi to have.Great brand, great team, great customer service. Looking forward to buying some more gear in the near future.

I get constant compliments on this Functional Technique gi I have been training in! As I do know Damien Wright personally I can say his considerate, giving and hard working character is fully reflected in the thought and design of this gi; including to the extent that he is a savage on the mat is on full display in the reliability, dependability and common sense design of this gi. With this Functional Technique gi Damien and his business partner have committed to coming up with a truly one of a kind premium setup for any grappler. The gi jacket is very durable, breathable and comfortable for me due to the well constructed materials and smart stitching patterns in the sleeves, collar and skirt. However, this gi really shines and dominates in the pants. These pants have a little stretch in them but are still firm to the grip due to the percentages of various materials considered in its construction. The stitching for me has never failed and while rolling I do not lose my pants due to the very unique design of the belt. This is a real belt with a reliable, lightweight and well designed strong, plastic buckle system. The belt is a flat, lightweight belt strap that feels invisible while wearing and for others rolling with you. The buckle design is very smart that it has mobility built into it, does not pinch or hurt and is nearly impossible to get caught on any fabric including your training partner's. These pants are also practical to wear either before or after training if need be either to run errands or be elsewhere as they look more like a regular pant than a typical gi pant. These pants also include convertible pockets which can conceal up completely while rolling or open up to be used. These pockets are deep and very usable! Even with pockets left open and accessible during rolling they do not interfere at all as they are sleek and modest from the outside. I also want to mention that I have many hoodies, but picked up a hoodie from FNTQ (Functional Technique) and was very impressed. It is super comfortable; roomy in the right spots and functional where needed as it has a slightly oversized hood on it and a zipper pouch on top of the hand warmer/pocket in front. This 'kangaroo pouch' has been absolutely amazing and something you do not realize you needed until you have it. I picked a second FNTQ hoodie up in another color. They are amazingly perfect for hanging out and securing your personal items, travel on a plane or to wear as a warmup before a competition in which you can zip up your mouth guard in pouch (as we've all seen many lost mouth guards on floor at a comp). This is one of the best hoodies on the market. If you're thinking about it, do it. Get yourself some gear and see for yourself. At FNTQ they will also accommodate you by being able to mix and match jacket and pants sizes as needed for you personally to build your fit. Again, I still get many compliments every time I train in the gi and everyone is asking how to get one. The assurance of purchasing from such good people and amazing customer service at FNTQ is priceless peace of mind. I will be back! Especially for more colors being released in near future!

Not only are the people who started the company some of the kindest people around. They truly are focused on creating innovative products that address the unmet needs of those who practice the sport. Even the rashguard is functionally superior to anything else I have trained in. Plus the designs are dope! Highly recommend all of their products. Can’t say enough good things about Functional Technique!

I didn’t know that when I started training jiujitsu, that I’d be stepping into a world/culture of its own. One huge aspect of that culture is the training gear. And one of the hardest aspects of training gear is finding the brand that fits your body type. I’m a heavier dude (some would say “high calorie” LOL), and finding rash guards that don’t ride up while you’re getting folded is hard to find. I was lucky enough to have found Functional Technique; their rash guards are longer torso, with an elastic band at the base of the torso to help prevent it from riding up. I wear an XL, and it fits just right 👌🏽. I now own and rotate through several of the rash guards because they’re just that good! Soon, my next purchase is the Gi, I tried one on and they’re comfy as hell. Functional, if you will. This is a great brand, local to the Sacramento area, and their support team is quick to respond. They got stickers and Hoodies too!

Just picked up my new functional technique gi! Fits like a glove and it’s great to not have to worry about tying strings on my pants. Immediately wore it during class and it feels very comfortable yet durable. You can tell it’s made from high quality material. If you’re looking for a top notch gi, this is the one.
