I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to extensive dental work at this office.I had gone my entire life with regular cleanings and only ever needing a filling or two. After starting care with Dr. Schmidt (Dr. Crowns) at MVFD, however, I suddenly found myself getting crown after crown after crown. Because I had recently given birth, I initially assumed the extensive dental work might be related to hormonal changes and trusted that the treatment being recommended was necessary.Dr. Schmidt eventually crowned all of my back teeth. When he recommended crowns for my canines, I decided to stop and get a second opinion. I’m very glad I did. My new dentist told me that I do not need crowns on my canines and that there isn’t even a cavity — just an area that could potentially develop into one in the future, which they plan to monitor.More concerning, my new dentist also pointed out issues with the fit and seating of the crowns I received from Dr. Schmidt. I was told that improperly fitting crowns can create areas where decay can develop. I have already had one of these crowns fall out despite being less than four years old.The process itself also left me questioning the level of oversight involved. My experience was that Dr. Schmidt would prepare the tooth, after which the dental assistant would make and place the crown, and I would leave without Dr. Schmidt personally checking the completed crown.I also paid for these crowns out of pocket after my insurance declined coverage. At the time, I trusted that I was receiving treatment that was necessary. After getting a second opinion and hearing that some of the treatment recommended to me was not necessary, I have serious concerns about the decisions that were made regarding my care.I’m sharing this because I wish someone had encouraged me to get a second opinion before I agreed to permanently alter so many of my teeth. I can only speak to my own experience and what my new dentist has told me, but based on that experience, I would not recommend Dr. Schmidt or MVFD. If you are being told that you need extensive or repeated crown work, I strongly encourage you to get an independent second opinion first.I have already told my family, friends, coworkers, and anyone else who asks about my experience to do the same. I wish I had.

Went in for broken tooth repair and had two crowns replaced as well as a cleaning and full exam. I could not have asked for a nicer experience. Everyone in the the office was fantastic, highly recommend for dental care.

I tend to never really do reviews, but I just had to in this case because it truly was deserved. I am 6 months pregnant, I moved from NM a while back and of course I didn’t do the best research so I went to another “local” office for basic cleanings… I realized I hadn’t gotten one done in a while and I’ve heard it’s important to get one done during pregnancy. Well I went to the place I had been going to, to be told I had major bone loss, entering the stage of periodontal disease, and was told I needed a deep cleaning which was super pricey and I needed to get it done soon.. I then got the thought “this doesn’t seem right, I should find a second opinion” and well I did. I am so glad I did.The moment I walked into this office I felt so welcomed and acknowledged receptionist were so busy but still acknowledged me several times while I waited (not long at all).Once I went to the back it was the same, so nice and friendly and I was explained everything and actually showed me what was going on. To find out I don’t have periodontal disease and not “major bone loss” I got to know a little about the staff, which is very nice. Didn’t seem like they just wanted me “in and out.” They also made sure I was comfortable at all times which I appreciate a lot.It was such a friendly, super clean, nice experience I’m looking forward to my next visits at this office! I recommend 100%

I’ve been nervous about the dentist for years, but this team completely changed that. From the first call the staff was warm and professional. Dr. explained everything clearly before starting, and the whole procedure was way more comfortable than I expected. No pressure, no rush, and they really cared about me feeling okay. My molar feels perfect now and I’m actually not dreading my next cleaning. Highly recommend if you want honest care and zero judgment.
