Indy Renovation

This will be my most comprehensive review to date, so anyone interested in working with this company, please consider my experience. We hired Indy Renovation because we discovered water penetrating some tile in our master bathroom shower. We feared prolonged water damage, so they came and looked. While here, they recommended we rip out the tile and put in a fully enclosed shower unit, and that we get a new water heater because ours was old and leaking. I signed on for both projects. The water heater was quick and straightforward, with one bump in the road. The manager called me a few days before the service and said that the original brand of water heater wasn’t one he recommended, so he swapped us to a different brand that he personally uses in his home and likes better. This may not sound like a bump in the road, but I’ll come back to this. The water heater installation continues without a hitch, they come and install it over the course of a full day. It’s great. The shower order took a couple of months to arrive. I didn’t hear from Indy Renovation when I was told I would. I called and was told that the shower had arrived and they scheduled service for a week later. I was not made aware, but the date worked, so I shrugged it off the lack of communication off.The day comes and the build begins. One kind and professional guy proceeds to work tirelessly for several days. He tears out the old shower, addresses the relatively minor water damage and mold, and preps for installing the new one. All this goes very smoothly.Partway through the installation of the new shower, we lose hot water to the rest of the house. The man working on our project doesn’t know exactly what is the issue, so I call Indy Reno again and explain. They tell me that they will send out a plumber to look into the water heaterthe next day.The next day I take off of work so I can be available for the plumber. He never shows up.I call Indy Reno back, and I am told that the appointment was cancelled because the brand of water heater we have requires their own proprietary technicians to do the work, and that I need to call them. This was only explained to me after I wasted a day waiting around for a call I never got. After I called the number provided and after a lengthy and confusing conversation, I noticed that the brand of water heater I’m calling about isn’t the same one I have. Here is where that bump in the road returns.Indy Reno changed out the brand of water heater they were installing for me, but in their internal system they didn’t update that information. So they had it in their system that I had the first brand of water heater they initially chose for me instead of the one they switched me to based on manager recommendation. So they cancelled my plumbing appointment based on their own incorrect data and also failed to tell me about the cancellation.I called back, reasonably very annoyed, and was told that I’d have to live with cold water for a few days longer than I was supposed to. I made it clear how disappointing and inconvenient this was for us.I got a call later that same day that they managed to get a plumber, and he was coming out same day to right this wrong. The plumber then did exactly that and we had hot water again. It’s important to mention that they didn’t charge me extra for this. They honored the original quote. From that hiccup, everything else went great, save for one small thing. After the shower was finished, I noticed that the lever didn’t turn all the way like it was supposed to, and I was only getting lukewarm water from the shower at best. I texted the man who had done the project, and he came the next day. Turns out it was just a safety feature for kids inside the handle that he hadn’t removed.Otherwise it all went as intended, our new shower and water heater are fantastic.I think after all of that, a 4 out of 5 stars is perfectly appropriate for my experience with Indy Renovation.
