**Roofing Project Review – Puget Sound Roofing**For reference, our home is approximately 2,900 square feet with a hip roof, so this was a fairly substantial roofing project. We received several bids before choosing a contractor. Tri Star Roofing quoted us around $36,000 to replace and install new shingles, replace approximately 19 sheets of plywood, install new gutters and complete all standard roofing components. At their price point , plywood removal and installation cost always almost $100 per sheet, so replacing around 19 sheets alone represented a significant material expense. In addition, they recommended adding vents in areas where it didn’t really make sense, which felt like an unnecessary upsell and further increased the overall bid.Patriot Roofing came in at $28,000. We also received bids from a few smaller local roofing companies ranging from $18,000–$20,000, with some offering to install IKO shingles as a lower-cost option. After carefully comparing pricing, materials, and scope of work, we chose Puget Sound Roofing. The owner, Steven, was very professional, honest, and flexible with the payment plan. What stood out the most was that he did not try to upsell anything. I showed him the other bids, and he took the time to walk me through what was necessary and what was not. He clearly explained why it wasn’t necessary to replace 19 pieces of plywood preemptively and why additional lower vents were not needed, since our roof already has soffit vents installed all around the house. He provided three bid options — good, better, and best — which helped us make an informed decision based on our budget and goals. The installation comes with a warranty, and since they are an authorized installer, they also handle the product warranty registration directly with the shingle manufacturer, which made the process much easier for us.Their team replaced the rotted plywood only where needed, installed new ridge vents to replace the old vents, updated the flashing, and completed the full shingle installation. They even installed a roof anchor at no additional charge. The job took two full days, which we felt was a very reasonable timeframe for a 2,900 sq ft hip roof. The workmanship is excellent, and the overall quality of the installation is very good. Communication throughout the project was clear and professional. They left our yard clean and free of debris when the job was finished. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend Puget Sound Roofing to anyone looking for quality roofing work at a fair and honest price.
