Initially happy with the service as a tech came out same day when my AC went out. He hosed off my hot unit and replaced capacitor and was at my house a total of 20-30 minutes. He told me the fan didn’t kick on so he had to hit it to make it start going again. Gladly paid the $345.00 I was charged as I was happy to have my AC back on. Woke up the next morning to the AC already being back out and the fan stuck and not turning and over heating. We left for vacation that morning and turned our entire system off. Inconvenient to call while traveling and it was the weekend their office was closed. Called a few days later and said the first tech should have replaced the fan motor as it seemed that was the issue from when he came out and asked how much it would cost and asked for an estimate for an entire new unit. She told me a tech would need to come out to see what fan motor the unit would need. The tech did not service or touch my current unit and was only worried about the estimate for a new unit. I was quoted for fan motor replacement as well as a new unit. We did not proceed with either because of pricing. 30 days later I just got a labor charge directly out of my bank account for $139.05. My husband called to question this as website advertises free estimates and no work was done the day the tech came out. He was told because we did not proceed with the new unit we were charged for the labor and proceeded to degrade him for not purchasing a new unit because our unit was 22 years old. That they would not be willing to refund. This feels unethical and money hungry. Will never use their service again and even if we need a new unit in 2 months would never consider them or recommend them.

We highly recommend North Star heating and air conditioning. They diagnosed a damper issue and fixed it by installing new dampers in our split system, They were professional and prompt each step along the way. Chris & Cole were outstanding technicians. Kim in the office and Kristin, parts and service, kept us informed each step of the project. Communication were suberb. Austin & Melvin, the install team, were super polite andextremely capable. The North Star team exceeded our expectations.We could not be happier.

Our air conditioner stopped working on Tuesday evening. We made an emergency appointment and they were out on Wednesday by 1pm. The unit was fixed and our house is cool again. HIGHLY recommend!!
