First off, Ultrasound is the best looking studio I've ever seen! A wonderful Bohemian oasis in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. It immediately fosters a feeling of creativity.Secondly the owner, Stefan, is a wonderful host and engineer/producer. Full of interesting ideas and suggestions.The main mixing desk has solid rock and roll history, originally located in New York, where it was used to record early Ramones and Blondie albums among many others.A guaranteed great experience if you choose to record here.

The equipment is top notch and the production I have experienced working there is what keeps me coming back for future projects. Ultrasound Studios is hands-down one of the best-kept secrets in the recording world.I came in for a simple voice-over and ended up staying for a full mix and master session because I couldn’t believe the sound we were getting. Studio A’s custom 1974 API 2488 board is an absolute beast—warm, punchy, and dripping with character. And don’t even get me started on the analog gear. The Stephens 812B and 3M M79 add this buttery richness you just can’t fake.Studio B is equally insane—Neve, API, and Apex Pros with discrete Class A tech? Yes, please. The mic locker is like stepping into a time machine curated by audio gods. Every take we tracked sounded right from the jump.Bonus points for the live drum room—it’s big, vibey, and incredibly versatile thanks to their custom isolation booths. Whether you want a cavernous Bonham feel or something bone-dry and tight, they can dial it in.Can’t recommend this place enough. Real gear, real sound, real results.
