"Unfortunately, most mold inspectors have little or no training in working with people who have environmental sensitivities [or toxicities]. Most mold remediation companies have even less training in this area. People suffering from environmental exposures often need a more experienced and knowledgeable mold inspector and remediation company." -- Dr. Neil Nathan, Toxic: Heal Your Body from Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and Chronic Environmental Illness. That's why I am so grateful to have found American Mold Experts. Bill Nicoll, co-owner, is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about environmental illnesses and takes his job very seriously of helping these people to live in mold safe homes. I was under contract on a charming older home on the Southside that looked like it came straight out of a storybook -- so did the neighborhood. I fell in love. The house was extremely clean, had no musty odors, and hardwood floors and white plaster walls -- materials that do not promote mold growth. I thought my prayers had been answered. Then the inspection report came back... AME saw there had been significant water intrusion (that was not disclosed) and building materials needed replacement, found high humidity coming from the HVAC that needed remediation, and found visible mold in the basement that also needed proper remediation. Then the mold report came in and it showed the house was infested with several species of dangerous molds. The DR had 9000 spore count (should be under 1000). Bill assured me that he could make the home mold safe. Unfortunately the seller would not do a proper remediation with AME, which is what I asked for, and instead I am told they got a quote for $5k from some company like what Dr. Nathan wrote about above. I am heart-broken not to be buying the home but I am so very very glad that I hired AME for the inspection. They saved me from a very bad situation.
