BL James and Son are PHENOMENAL!!! First of all, they are TRUSTWORTHY. Exceptional customer service. They can fix anything. They have been maintaining my Arlington house since 2003. Last week, I had an emergency AC weekend after hours issue that they fixed in an hour. This week, I had a gas leak. They came out for an emergency visit during a winter snowstorm to fix the job. They do the same with heating, AC, plumbing, electrical. There are benefits to being a longtime customer during a time when other contractors can be a real drag, these guys are the very best. On time, professional, smart, common sense, family business, ethical.

I had a leaking bathtub that was coming through the ceiling. I had tried to unclog it myself and in the process had somehow loosened the nut. George came on time and promptly fixed the nut and didn't charge us for it since it took him seconds. I remembered that the pressure release valve on the water heater was leaking water occasionally. I showed it to George and was informed that it was a potentially catastrophic problem. I had to go to work so I showed George where the water cut off was in the basement and went to work. When I returned, my wife told me that he had fixed the problem and given us a very fair bill. I'll be using BL James for my HVAC and plumbing needs from now on. Other companies would have probably charged me for the bathroom leak. I was also informed by Aaron that he had a person that could repair the drywall damage on the ceiling.My outside AC unit was screaming this morning so I turned it off and called BL James again. Chris had a guy coming between 3 and 5. Mauricio was here at 3 and diagnosed the problem. The motor was completely shot. He gave me a quote, got the part, cleaned the unit and competed the repair by 5:30! Their service is the best in NOVA. Both my daughter and I have hadBL James come out for a number of repairs and every time their work has been exceptional.I have often been surprised that they are able to find a way to fix the problem that is less costly than I anticipated.For example, another Company estimated a project at over $800 and they were able to do the same project for under $300.I have found this company to be honest, always on time and with good communication. I wouldn’t want to hire any other company in the future.

The semi-annual HVAC service provided by the Mark, the Tech on June 5, 2026, was excellent. He kept me informed of what he was doing while he was checking my two (2) units and changing the filters. He was honest and trustworthy. I recommend B.L James & Son without hesitation or reservation.In addition, on June 12, 2026, Mauricio, the Tech came to replace the capacitor on my unit. He did an excellent job. He kept me informed along the way. I also recommend him and BL James without hesitation. for this type of work.

Just WOW. I just recently became a home owner in Arlington and I needed to find a good HVAC company to service my system twice a year. I found BL James & Son through a personal connection and I can assure you they have almost 5 stars on here for a reason - they simply are the BEST! They told me they would be here between 8:30am - 9:30am..and Jose arrived promptly at 8:31am. Jose was extremely professional and kind. I had a major failure of my hot water heater and BL James & Son did a great job taking care of everything. They responded right away, because they have an actual person answering the phone, which is somewhat rare these days. Their supervisor did a site visit the next business day and I got a quote within hours. The work was scheduled for the next business day after I approved the quote and the crew did a great job.

B.L. James & Son technician Israel arrived at 8:41am for his 8:30-9:30 window. He performed three services for me today. He installed a new drain line in my first floor bathroom, replaced a cartridge in my kitchen secondary sink, and replaced a bathroom toilet valve and toilet hardware in my basement bathroom. He was communicative, timely, and bilingual throughout the process. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service he provided.

Really professional and helpful service - very pleased we chose B.L. James over a few others. Great experience this past week when they replaced our aging HVAC system with a new Heat Pump/Furnace hybrid combo. Aaron made two visits to go over options and setup, and the four-man crew was exceptionally strong. Explained what they were doing, answered questions, clearly trained and knowledgeable, and left the site spotless. They day before we also had B.L. James fix a toilet leak and Luis was just as helpful and professional as the HVAC crew. Again, an excellent experience across the board and would definitely recommend to others.

I want to update my review. Besides HVAC, they do top notch plumbing. Luis and Israel changed out my new kitchen faucet perfectly! They then changed out two toilets in my condo seamlessly!! I am very happy with their work and highly recommend you ask for Luis and Israel for any plumbing work you need done.New HVAC systems are a big investment so I wanted to get it right the first time. B.L James & Son delivered on all points: quality product, price, knowledge, top notch professional and customer service (shout out to Robert and Aaron). Our first experience with B.L. James & Son was fantastic. We messaged them when our ancient hot water heater sprung a leak and they got back to us within minutes to schedule a visit. Got us a very competitive quote right away and worked with our schedules to get someone out to replace the heater ASAP. The guys who replaced it were fantastic: professional, efficient, friendly, answered all of our questions patiently, and left the worksite spotless when they were done. Would highly recommend.Update: called them again when our AC unit suddenly stopped working this spring. Tech was super knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to explain how the system worked while he fixed it. It turned out to be a simple and thankfully inexpensive fix (broken wire from the thermostat) but he went ahead and cleaned out the unit, checked everything, and let me know which parts might need replacement down the road. I really appreciate the honesty, professionalism, and quick response. Would continue to highly recommend.
