If you’re Not a camper stay in one of the 6 accomodation options. Historic Queenslander Homestead. Forester Huts or Camper trailer. Amenities were clean and tidy. Homestead was as clean as you can get a 100+ year old home. The gardens around the biggest homestead were delightful. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore with the most beautiful view of Mt Barney. Onsite manager and reception were very friendly and welcoming. If you’re an experienced hiker it’s the perfect base to explore the local hikes. Lower Portals, Cronans Creek Falls, Yellowpinch lookout, Mt Barney and Mt Maroon.

Coming from New Zealand, I made the trip to Mt Barney and was absolutely in awe, at the beauty and peace I found !! If and when I can, I will return and stay for a week at least. The hiking was a lot of fun, with usually a waterhole to relax and cool down. The villa I stayed in was gorgeous, had everything you could possibly need, and the staff were extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating. 11 out of 10 I can't thank the staff enough for this memorable stay.

The drive through the Scenic Rim was spectacular with mountain views at every turn. We were welcomed by Innes, such a happy chappy and owner of the retreat. We found the campground spacious and peaceful. Designated firerings are dotted throughout the grassy campsites. We jagged a spot with views of two mountains. Wallabies abounded throughout the retreat. The babbling creek was a perfect spot to cool off after long days hiking.

We had a great weekend at Mt Barney Lodge, despite the rain. Tracey looked after us well, and we enjoyed participating in the Great Toad bust and frog id night walk. The facilities are clean and well kept, with a commitment to sustainability. We started off camping, but due to a tent malfunction ended up in one of the cabins, which was very comfortable. The weekend was very relaxing and I enjoyed watching the wildlife. Would recommend either camping or the cabins.

We spent a wonderful week at Mt Barney Lodge with friends over Christmas. The campgrounds are great with a local flowing river with many spots to keep everyone happy. The kids were so happy being able to wander off to the deeper swimming spot and we adults were happy staying closer to camp in one of the many shaded spots in the river. I recommend this place to anyone prepared to camp with a solar setup. The small facilities were always clean and hygienic. Bins were provided along with a bin for recycling food scraps. There were also ample taps to refill water. We hope to back soon. Last but not least the owners were very friendly and accomodating.

This was the most relaxing and beautiful 3 days I have spent for a long time. Went for a painting retreat with "Earth Stories" very peaceful and the food that Innes prepared was a mixture of Margaret Fulton & Maggie Beer. Tremendous. Only 90 minutes from Brisbane

If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, wildlife-filled camping experience - look no further! With shower facilities included in the overnight price, you can't do better than Mt Barney Lodge. Having stayed at other grounds in the area, I found this to be the perfect location for day walks, longer drives to see the waterfalls and if you enjoy seeing animals up close and personal - this is the place. Kangaroos/wallabies drop by each morning and night, a family of ducks were comfortable enough to stop by daily and the water monitors and magpies kept us entertained. I think this is a bonus as a result of no pets and no generators. The open fire pits are a nice size which we used to cook damper, potatoes in foil, steak burgers and other yummy delights. And if you run out of firewood, the Lodge sell bags of wood at a very reasonable price. This is the second time we've stayed at this location - and it won't be the last. We've managed to enjoy sunshine, rain, wind, and low and high temperatures and with the shade of the trees and equal open spaces, have enjoyed every environmental event. Embrace the lack of phone coverage and wifi - and enjoy the beautifully, well-kept grounds which ensures a safe and comfortable stay. A+++

This is one of the best places on the planet. I have been a number of times and it’s always hard to leave but easy to come back. We done the navigation course on the weekend and it’s completely changed my world. Well provided camping facilities and lots of un/marked hiking trails in and around the National Park, which at times may be a challenge for the less experienced. An abundance of wild life that comfortablely dwells with the human presence.

The Booloomoola Queenslander home we stayed in was beautiful. Perfectly clean. Views and wildlife were incredible. True serenity. Lovely little creek walks and national park/ Mt Barney hike not far at all

Just stayed at Mt Barney lodge in one of the on-site camper vans, so comfy and well-equipped made camping so easy! The beautiful Mt Barney is awe-inspiring as it towers over the campground and birds and wildlife abound. The campground amenities are very clean and there's so much to do, choose as much or as little as you like. I loved the peace and watching the wildlife. Simply wonderful!

Ok. We have been at the Lodge before a few years ago and had a great experience. This time we thought we'd try the 'glamping' on site van and, yes you have to bring your own bed linen. This seems a bit much for the $150/night fee. We also knew we had to use the amenities block as well. No toilet in the camper. This also seems a bit much for the $150/night fee. Also, no heater (and it was cold-maybe around 4/5 C at night. Good thing we bought the doonah and blankets. Also a bit much for the $150/night fee. The camper van was OK but quite dated. It was set up really well and the views out the door (and at the site) were great. Mt Barney in all it's glory. The provisioning of the camper were adequate, but not special. Two non stick fry pans all scratched up but maybe because there was only a metal spatula to use. Cutlery OK, pots and saucepans a bit old and stained to some extent. Sugar, coffee, tea provided and that was nice. One of the burners was a bit dodgy and sometimes it worked and sometimes it just shut off. That was OK because the stovetop was quite small and you could only use two of the burners at a time due to size. Think this is pretty normal for these camper vans but a bit of a nuisance. There were two camper vans in the park and fairly close to each other. The first night we had no neighbours but the second night a crew of about eight rocked up and set up tents as well as the camper van. An adult with a bunch of teenagers. Noisy until about late evening and sitting around the fire yakking and singing. We came to listen to the birds and the creek. All in all not a bad experience but not a great one either. Think the price for the van is a bit much for what you get. They need to upgrade the cooking utensils and make them safe. A scratched up non-stick pan is not good. However, the campground and the views are pretty nice.

Awesome for families, cabins are great with everything you could need for a comfortable weekend away. The little creek that runs through is the perfect swimming hole. Lots of wildlife and perfect view of Mt Barney

The staff were amazing! They went above and beyond even replacing my tyre that had a puncture. The scenery was stunning and I highly recommend a stay and in particular they mother daughter camp. I can’t wait to go back to Mt Barney lodge camp grounds!

The team at the Mount Barney Lodge were very friendly and the scenery was beautiful. The amenities there were great and the glamping trailer was well equiped. The guide that took me to the summit of mount Barney was very good and knew very well what she was doing.

I stayed here over night as part of an Intrepid Tour of the Scenic Rim and this night was the highlight of my entire journey. The lodging was a beautiful and well preserved Queenslander house, that enabled us to cook our own meals out under the stars. The owner also took us on a tour of the site, explained the history of the buildings, and then provided us with wine and cheese under the stars to finish it off. This has gone down as one of the greatest accommodation experiences I have ever had and I would highly recommend a stop at this place!

Loved our stay in Barney Camper trailer. It had everything we needed for a relaxing and energising stay. So great to have a hot shower at the end of the day. Such a beautiful environment to have the privilege of visiting. The lodge grounds are well maintained and the staff are all super friendly.

I did the navigation workshop 2 years ago. The skills I learned have acconpanied me since and enabled me to do many awesome off-track walks I would not have been able to do before. I did not expect to learn enough to safely and effectively navigate in one weekend course - but I did, regularly using it afterwards of course. Innes' traching was excellent, he was clearly very experienced and knowledgable and was very good at explaining navigational techniques in an easy-to-understand way. During the practice walk on day 2 we practiced everything in the field. He also gave instructions on how to continue, practice and apply what we learned - I did everything and have become competent and confident at navigating anywhere with map and compass since. The freedom of being able to go anywhere, independently and self-sufficiently, is incredibly rewarding amd satisfying! Doing this course has opened the door for me to have the best outdoor experiences of my life and has continued to make me happy since. I highly recommend the navigation workshop to anyone interested in outdoor activities, it is a great investment into long-term enjoyment!

I would recommend abseiling to anyone who is looking to do something different. Our guide, Innes, was very helpful and patient when I found it difficult to let go when I needed to so I can descend from the top of the mountain. Apart from the guide, the equipment that they provided made me feel really secure and safe. Views were stunning, the people we did the activity with were friendly, and it was just an enjoyable experience overall, something I will never forget. I did this in November 2021 and I only had the chance to provide feedback tonight. I am glad I finally got the chance to share.

We camped and did the map reading and navigation course over the weekend which is well worth doing. The scenery is stunning and it was so peaceful, we’ll definitely be returning. There are several options for the adventurer to stay, camping and shared accommodation as well as camper trailers.

Would 100% recommend doing the Mount Barney hike guided! Not only was our guide Sean a fabulous source of information, but provided a great sense of security in an otherwise very tricky hike. This hike was tough - a 10-11hour day all up, and is a test of both physical and mental endurance. Mount Barney Lodge’s camp facilities are fabulous, and I would recommend a stay regardless of if you are doing an expedition!

Gorgeous camp ground with clean facilities. Friendly atmosphere and family friendly. Their commitment to recycling, composting and reducing plastic waste was great to see. The little shop had all the essentials including great local wines. I went on a fantastic guided walk up Mount Barney and found the guide knowledgeable, kind and very positive. The kids activities were top quality and made this a fantastic holiday for the whole family.

I camped at Mt Barney Lodge whilst undertaking the 2+ day Navigation Workshop run by Innes. The workshop was excellent. I had never done off track bushwalking and didn't think I would be able to read topographical maps - taking the course was to confirm that I couldn't. I was wrong and I think I have a new hobby - off track bushwalking. Innes' enthusiasm is fabulous. He's a passionate educator. It was well paced and the walk to test out our new found knowledge was great. For camping, it was lovely. Bush setting, pitch your tent where you like within the area. Toilet amenities clean & shower good. I look forward to being back.

You don't get much better than this! Perfect winter weather to have an open fire along side our caravan (not off-road), in picturesque surroundings with very few people. Bring enough food to last as you won't want to leave. Fabulous walks close by. A must place to visit summer or winter.

This was such a spectacular place to have my first (adult) camping experience. I braved the cold and took my 15 y.o. son and his mate for 3 days. It was the best decision. The boys explored freely, they did the Mt Gillies scramble with the guide and had such an incredible time. I forgot pretty much all the essentials including tent pegs, plates and cutlery....they new me very well by the time our trip ended - however the team were so supportive and helpful, they gave great advice and lent me all the bits I left on the kitchen bench at home. I was nervous going there, but now have a new found confidence that I can camp and explore the world! We are definitely coming back. So many more adventures to be had at Mt Barney Lodge. Thanks team for making our trip so incredible.

I completed my 3rd climb with the Barney's Lodge crew and, once again, it was excellent! Shawn (Sean, Shaun?) was our leader/guide and he did an outstanding job as the guides for Barney Lodge always do. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and a brilliant climber. He was always on hand to offer advice and assistance on the climb but also let us get creative to how was actually made it through the many tricky sections. His passion for climbing and the botany was infectious. Ive climbed Barney many times but so glad I climb Logan's with Barney Lodge as it allowed me to learn the route without frustration of worry for walking into a tricky situation. What's more than that though was the knowledge of the area he imparted. He really made it a great experience. Innes has done a brilliant job of vetting to only get skilled and knowledgeable guides but also very charismatic and personable. They also make sure that the group of fellow climbers are near an equal level of capability so you're not having to wait and nurse a person the whole way. I highly recommend to use these guys and girls for the first ascent of the many routes of Barney so you can have future solo successes!

I’ve just enjoyed another “Moonrise on Maroon” with a small group - expertly guided by Innes & Catelyn. We enjoyed a taste of a bit of wild weather @ the top of Maroon & then tucked into Tracey’s wonderful pasta. A trip not to be missed ! However there’s something for everybody out @ Mt.Barney Lodge & in particular it’s very family friendly & everyone can just do their own thing .. & there’s plenty of outdoor activities to do while you’re staying in this beautiful bush setting. Or you can just relax & enjoy the great views. Many thanks to all @ Mt.Barney Lodge !
