As a solo female traveler - very welcoming and comfortable and felt safe.Very good location Location to the rail station, bus stop, the sea front , the harbour etc.i was able to do many day trios using, the steam train, buses and cabs, including, Dartmouth, Kingswear, Brixham, Broad sands etc

As a Solo traveler the Great Western B&B was very welcoming, safe and all the staff made my 6 days very comfortable and pleasant. The owner / manager Kathy- mostly around through out the day , helpful in providing information and guide to places to visit. I only learnt about the Paignton Zoo from her. Michelle is a manager and plays the Piano etc - again very personable and helpful The interior is well furnished with the Great Western Railway memorabilias etc. Special old station Bar look. Absolutely fabulous for the old railway and steam train enthusiast. No wonder the hotel has many regular annual visitors . Some book the place twice a year The Black Ivory Piano Bar The Piano afternoon/evenings are brilliant. Ths Jass and other music added character to the place Location - walking distance from the station about 7 minutes, Harbour and sea front about 4 minutes. About 3 minutes walk to a nearby "general store " Premier Shop open until 9.00pm. The bus service across the coastal places is brilliant. Using my Freedom Pass, I went to Broadsands, Brixham Torquay an other site seeing places. The coastal walk from Broad sands to Elberry Cove is worth exploring - amazing discovery. Breakfast - variety of continental breakfast, including cereals, yogurt, toasts etc. I asked for fresh bananas and I got them the next day. I am looking forward to my next visit.

The most welcoming hotel in Paignton. The only place I think about staying in when I visit Devon. Absolutely perfect location being a short ten minute walk from the train station, and just two minutes walk to the sea front and location attractions. Amazing hosts who simply go above and beyond to go e you the best visit you could hope for.The hotel has recently been bolstered by the renovated bar area, now called the Black Ivory Piano Bar, which gives you a fantastic place to relax on an evening enjoying great drinks and nibbles while you chill out to superb music.A must stay.

Absolutely brilliant atmosphere and bar. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We had an impromptu piano set from the owner, which was amazing. We had a fantastic night in the bar. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
