They have created an amazing culture that makes everyone feel welcome right away.​The academy itself is absolutely beautiful, clean, and in a fantastic location. The atmosphere and energy among the entire team make every single session something to look forward to.​A huge shoutout to Collin, the Jiu-Jitsu black belt instructor—his quality of teaching and genuine willingness to help every student grow, regardless of level, is top-notch. You can tell he truly cares about passing on the art and helping people improve.​If you are looking for high-quality instruction, a phenomenal group of people, and an beautiful facility, Warrior Arts is the place to be. This is the absolute best gym in Sooke. They train every discipline. I could not recommend a better place to train.

Great place with great instruction. Jiujitsu can be super intimidating for women, and Dave & Collin have created a welcoming and safe place to train, and all the guys on the mat are supportive and respectful. It's super fun!Dave also coaches my son who has a physical disability, and this is one of the few places where I've seen a thoughtful approach to accommodating kids with disabilities in sport. Most places are welcoming but have no idea how to actually practice inclusivity, which is not the case here. My son loves it and is highly motivated as a result.

Highly recommend! Warrior Arts Academy is a far more than your standard martial arts school. Dave and Monica have created a welcoming community at their dojo that opens the doors to everyone, regardless of your skill level, age, or experience. Their professionalism, passion, and expertise are reflected in the many students who continually return multiple times a week to challenge themselves in the plethora of classes offered throughout the week. The addition of Colin to the BJJ program demonstrates the quality of instructors that Dave and Monica attract. The friendly staff are not only welcoming and well-trained; but also keep the facility and equipment looking clean and fresh every day. In a world of “online black belts” and “pop-up McDojo’s” it can be discouraging finding reliable martial arts schools. I have mostly been trained by Monica for the past year and it has been transforming for me. I tried kickboxing with a friend on a bet thinking there is no way I could be a kickboxer. I took the one free trial class and never looked back. Monica will work you as hard as you want to work but passes no judgment if your taking it slower for a class or 2. I don't have enough great things to say about warrior arts academy and all their staff. I would also like to add that Im a legit off the street customer, I'm not a friend of theirs writing a good review if your wondering LOL

The vibe is welcoming and open and the training is technical and demanding and exploratory - something great here for all ages and levels. I and have been training here for years with my kids and the benefits extend so far beyond the dojo - the knowledge that reward received through the discipline of doing hard things has deep value; the confidence of deepening connection to the body and how it moves best; knowing we are part of a community that cares deeply about each other and demonstrates it daily through respect on the mats. This dojo offers top-notch instruction in Japanese jiu-jitsu, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and attentive. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced martial artist, they tailor their teaching to your skill level. Dave and Monica who run the dojo have built a community of students that encourage and challenge each other to be their best. The facility is clean, spacious, and well-equipped with quality mats, heavy bags, and training gear. Both of my kids take classes here also and I’ve seen big improvements in their discipline and self confidence. There’s nothing quite like it in Sooke or I suspect anywhere on Vancouver Island.

I've done 3 beginner women's kickboxing classes so far, and love it! The environment is very welcoming, and being brand new to martial arts I did not feel intimidated at all. Monica's classes are a great workout, and (although I'm new to it, so by no means an expert) seem to be high quality in terms of instruction and class pace. So far each class has been different, with an excellent variety of fitness and technique. I am newly postpartum and feel like the classes are safe but adequately challenging. After one free trial class you can get a monthly membership (with family discounts) or a 10 class pass (which you have 4 months to use), and with a toddler and a newborn at home I appreciate the flexibility. They do have equipment to borrow if you want to, and were very helpful in showing me around and teaching me what to do to get ready. I was searching for a low pressure, local fitness activity that allowed me to work around my kids, and so happy to have found Warrior Arts!
