I am very happy to write this review for Capt. Troy and Brenden. A year agoI started searching for destinations to catch yellow fin tuna and stumbled across Venice, LA and Capt. Troy-so glad I did. Took a 2 day charter with my son, nephew and his 8 yr old son-we had the time of our life and a fishing experience next to none. Just did a trip with captain Troy and it was AWESOME!! Troy knew exactly where to go and exactly what to do that had us landing tuna for three straight hours! Could not have asked for more, and working with Troy was as an absolute pleasure. I cannot say enough good things about our experience, and if we're ever back in Venice, I know exactly who to call for a fishing trip. Thanks again Troy!

Captain Troy (and Lisa and Andrei) are superb. Experiences, kind, awesome equipment, capable, and extremely knowledgeable - we had a great deep sea trip. Fish were many, cleaned perfectly and the whole group caught big fish. If I could give 6 stars instead of 5, I would. A true gem in Venice, LA - thanks, Troy.

We recently went on a six-person charter in Venice with Captain Andre and his mate(Chris?), and it was Great! They were quick to load the boat with bait and Capt Andre located the tuna, ensuring everyone on board had a great time. Having had mixed experiences with captains in Venice in the past, we were pleasantly surprised by how friendly and accommodating both Andre and Chris were. They went out of their way to explain their techniques and strategies, which really enhanced our fishing adventure. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for an enjoyable and engaging fishing experience!

Went out with Troy and Andre (both captains) for a bachelor party in the Razor Cat and had an amazing time. That boat is fast!Despite crowded waters and calm seas, we found some tuna action when none of the boats around us were getting anything. Tuna fights are real - we had to trade off between guys to get our 3 in.After that we went after red snapper and hooked several almost instantly, never seen anything like it.These guys are the real deal. No glam, no flash, just two experts who love fishing and love teaching others how to love fishing too.BRING SUNSCREEN - do not play around with sunburn on a 12hr charter. With plenty of water, plenty of snacks, and plenty of sunscreen, you’ll be just fine. They have two boats, if you’re looking at overnight do the King Fish, but if you’re only gonna do a day you want the Razor Cat due to its speed - being first to a site really, really matters and you will not catch much if you are late.We are already planning an overnight trip for next year!

We went offshore with Troy for tuna for 2 days and it was a blast.we caught all we wanted to catch great guy and he knows them waters. I would highly recommend him for your next trip this was my first trip and it was absolutely amazing I’ll be back once a year no doubting thanks Troy.

Captain Troy knows how to give a great fishing experience with professionalism and knowledge of the fishery superior to most in Venice. His 30 plus years of fishing out of Venice gives him the knowledge of where and when to fish for target species. He is an owner/operator and works hard and knows the water and rigs far more in depth from diving and fishing, then all the young Captains that are handed a fancy boat to drive for an owner with no real knowledge of the fishery. 16 years of of trips with Captain Troy speaks for itself with 20 tuna in two days for this years!

After hearing and reading about various offerings I decided to give Capt. Troy a call to take my group of guys fishing for a bachelor party. I gave him a call and we settled on a good date to allow us to target AJs and Blackfin. Troy is clearly experienced in the gulf waters and handled the boat professionally in between assisting anglers during fights. He made the lesser experienced in our group feel comfortable and clearly explained safe use of his reels prior to hooking anything which I feel is important to a new angler enjoying their experience. His deckhand was solid, had good awareness with multiple fish on the line, and knew when to step in and when to observe. Multiple people from our initial group have 2022 Trips lined up for Yellowfin and I hope to get my own together as well. I would definitely recommend Capt. Troy!Tip: For a stress-free morning book a houseboat right next to his in the Venice Marina for dockside pickup in the AM - walk right out of the kitchen and onto the boat.

Absolutely amazing! Andre and Michael were 1st class. We were originally supposed to be with another charter and their boat broke, so they recommended this charter.They arrived early, Greeted us and went over Safety rules. We headed out and they put us on the fish quick. They work their butts off the entire day to make sure that we a great experience. They did not disappoint at all and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for top notch Tuna fishing!Andre and Michael Took great care of our group. They also kept great conversation and they worked extremely well together. Definitely kept us laughing. Awesome music too.If you are looking for a tunafish experience, you have found the right people. Thanks again Andre and Michael!

Captain Andre on the kingfish 3 put us on Tuna before we could finish our coffee! We had hookup after hookup, and didn’t lose a single fish! We caught all our tuna quickly so we asked to try for a Swordfish and holy cow did we get what we asked for!!! 200lb 10-12ft monster of a sword!! He even helped my two 9 y/o nephews reel it in! Could not ask for a better Captain or crew! 100% would and have recommended to friends and family!!

This was our first charter out of LA and it did not disappoint. Although the seas were a little too rough to go out after tuna, we fished the oil rigs and caught monster amber jack (one was 62 pounds)! A big Cobia was icing on the cake. Captain Andre was fun to fish with. He seemed to enjoy the day as much as we did. Mike worked relentlessly all day and made it all work.

The fish were biting and the crew (Capt John and mate Travis) was highly skilled at getting fish in the boat. We caught two swords, one over 150lbs, and limited out on red snapper (4 for 2ppl) in about 30min. Captain was also kind enough to find a rig and let me out for some free diving (12lb mangrove by spear off the rig). The fishing was some of the best I've ever done anywhere in the world.With that said, if the fishing hadn't been good, this experience would have not have been enjoyable and definitely not worth the money. I called the captain weeks before our trip. The fishing experience he described was not what we had. The boat confused the marina to pick us up in the morning. The crew (not including troy as I believed) did not know I was bringing spearfishing equipment and was not prepared. They were set on targeting sword, which we had no problem with but they seemed resistant to trying anything else. If you are fishing with Captain Troy's crew, just be prepared that these guys can be a little rough around the edges. Their humor can be crude and they dont seem to understand that the paying customer should be in charge of the day. A little more respect would have gone a long way.

Went offshore fishing with John and Tuck . We brought our sons who are 11 and 13. The guys are very kid friendly and treated them with respect. I have had other captains talk down and snap at kids. It was refreshing to see them treat our boys with kindness. On top of that we had a blast. We caught our target species ( tuna). We also caught other species had a full ice chest! highly recommend !

I had a much better experience with Captain Wetzel than I did the last charter fishing trip out of Venice I'd been on prior. Fish were biting. More importantly, he seems to genuinely care that his clients have fun, as opposed to some who once they've got your money don't give a monkey's behind if the clients enjoy the trip.The trolling motor determines who catches the most fish for inshore saltwater trips. While captain Wetzel is more of an offshore guy, if he did take clients inshore, he'd angle the boat so that the clients catch the most fish.Offshore when you're fishing between 200-600 feet of water, random luck determines how you'll fare on a given day... Well, that and the weather.In any case, this is a guide I am comfortable recommending to others and putting my own name out there in doing so.
