My son got accepted to BU as ED but received no Financial award for COA @$90K. The information they provide is very useful, practical and very consistent regardless of the individual counselor you meet with. I found them to be caring, approachable and helpful and I cannot say enough about them. They also offer a money back guarantee with no questions asked which suggests they are not all about the money or the business but truly about helping families navigate this extremely expensive minefield. They offer free biweekly open Q&A sessions and webinars on relevant focused topics which is open to the general public where you can ask any question about the FA process and tips they answer questions as long as its not overly complex and can be answered in a reasonable amount of time. They know so much and will provide good tips too. They also offer a free version of their software but its limited to 3 schools so its best to upgrade to the version you pay for but if you do not plan to apply to more than 3 schools perhaps you can get the free version. My recommendation is that you get the version that includes the one hour consultation bc the consultation is priceless. I found the 1hr consultation most useful for the appeal after receiving multiple college FA offers but you can also use it for a personalized review of your FAFSA and CSS profile before submission. They also have a discussion board where you can send questions anytime which will be answered by one of their professionals. This group and their software that evolved and improved over this year is a well kept secret really and I highly recommend collegeaidpro. They also help you with planning and strategy for those families of lower classmen. I wish I started earlier. With the paid version, you also have access to a wealth of private scholarships which you can filter based on your preferences. You also have access to several recordings containing tips and information on the FA process. Each school profile also gives you a predicted FA or scholarship award and all the funding that may be available to you based on your student's, characteristics. This way, you can really plan for the schools you apply to, and not be surprised by the sticker price later down the road. With respect to the output from the software, my predicted numbers were very close with the exception of one college so its fairly accurate. Im sure that their prices will probably start going up in the next year as people get to learn more about collegeaidpro. They also hold webinars to help make the process less overwhelming and target the audience based on graduation year and if you aren't able to dial in live, you have access to the recording after the event. CAP has staff members who are also military family members advocating for unique opportunities available. In the future, hopefully selectable options for GI Bill funding will be available to simplify the funding strategies portion of the dashboard.
