The Female Health Doctor Clinic

After 5 years of wondering why my fluctuating periods, low mood, change in body and other symptoms felt like early perimenopause, but constantly being told it isn’t by my GP, I made the decision to go to a private specialist. I found Nikki via google and her fantastic reviews. To say I feel less alone, like I’m not mad anymore & genuinely cared for, would be a huge understatement.I chose to have a full blood work up. Quick, painless and easily booked / clinic found.Nikki has gone above and beyond to check in when she didn’t need to. I had to move my 1st appt, and whilst Nikki understood , she still called me to check in after I’d shared information on my client form. I burst into tears, purely through me finally being listened to, not made to feel too young or silly for suggesting that I may be in early perimenopause at 41 years old.I finally feel seen & heard and looked after. Alongside this, I am late diagnosed ADHD & thought I may have PMDD. I had one week in the month where I was so-so. The rest was living hell. I have been dealing with it (badly), alone and with no hope of change. What seeing Nikki has highlighted, is how disgraceful the NHS is in relation to women’s health and diagnosis. GPs want to use textbook learning on actual humans. If you don’t fit the tick box criteria - you’re told it’s ‘normal’ or you need the pill or an SSRI.For any woman feeling lost and disconnected, warm (lol), overwhelmed and unhappy … whilst being ignored by your GP…. Please go and see Nikki. I thought I had complex issues affecting everything. It turns out it’s normal for my age, stage and not rare. It’s just not openly communicated or shared by our doctors. If we won’t raise it, push, follow up, push harder and harder … women like me are ignored.I finally don’t feel helpless, ignored or mad trying to find out what the heck is going on and wondering if I made up symptoms and feelings (it’s like NHS gaslighting !!).To caveat, this isn’t an anti-nhs, they’ve been wonderful in other ways; however it is my opinion and based on my experiences of raising issues and being told I’m wrong / too young / not the right symptoms / bloods are “fine” for years etc #iykykNikki…you made me feel human again, like I matter and I’m not just a box to be ticked and left, and that it wasn’t all in my head.Thank you isn’t enough x
