The Essex Doula

We chose Charlotte as our doula because we wanted a free birth and, having free birthed before, we knew how valuable it would be to have someone with the knowledge and experience to support us in that choice. We also had a wild pregnancy, with no medical intervention, and what we were really looking for was the “village” that we all hope to have around us, the wisdom, support and care of mums, sisters and friends.Charlotte gave us exactly that. She was incredibly kind, supportive and generous throughout my pregnancy. Whenever I mentioned a symptom or something I was wondering about, she would often go away and research it herself and come back with helpful information. She never made us feel judged or pressured; she simply gave us the support and knowledge we needed to make our own choices. One of the things that stood out to me most was how consistently Charlotte reminded me that I knew my own body and that I could trust it. That belief in myself carried me through the moments when I felt less confident, both during pregnancy and after the birth. Even when I struggled with breastfeeding, Charlotte kept reminding me of my own strength and power, and that was something I will always remember about her care. She also made the whole experience feel incredibly personal. She became like a friend, sister or relative to us, and that feeling continued after the birth. She would come over armed with food, meals, little treats and so much care. Those seemingly small things meant so much during those early days. She also shared a beautiful infographic with us about the stages of labour, which I found really helpful. We loved the aromatherapy knowledge and support Charlotte gave too!Our birth was exactly what my partner and I had hoped for, and we felt so supported in getting there.I would recommend Charlotte 100%. She is the person you want in your corner through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She gives you that feeling of having your village around you when you need it most. Everyone deserves a Charlotte.
