First time at El Toro Bravo but certainly no the last. Start with the chips and salsa… crisp chips with a perfectly spiced salsa..really one of the best I have had and I’ve had a lot. I was there for lunch and had their beef chimichanga special which was a fabulous presentation with melted cheese on top served on request with both red and green sauces. The chimi was surrounded on both sides with fresh greens with a generous dollop of guacamole and a sufficient amount of sour cream. At first, I thought it was going to be way too much for me to each but I admit that I did eat it all. Just couldn’t stop it was so good. Good wait staff and restaurant seems clean and about as inviting as a good Mexican restaurant can be.I live about 45 minutes from the restaurant but it will be worth the drive to come back as I had my eye on the chili rellano plate at a near by table. This Sarasota restaurant seems to have won several local awards and you can see why after dining here.

I had El Toro Bravo saved as a place to try. We were not disappointed. Daniel greeted us. Dani was our server. Both very friendly. The salsa for the chips and salsa was fantastic. A good sign the rest of the food would be great. The chips were fresh and warm.I ordered the chimichanga with chicken. That was excellent. The meat was plentiful and so tender. The portion was huge. My teenage son ordered the special burrito, it was nearly hanging off the plate. He couldn't finish it, which is unheard of with him. He's a student-athlete, he can eat. Later, he let me try a bite of the burrito, it was also excellent. My wife ordered the combo plate with enchiladas and a taco (Veracruz). Looked good. She said the meat was super tender. We're not local to Sarasota, but any time we come into town, we'll be stopping by.Oh and the place was so clean and it had a good atmosphere. We stopped by in the middle of the afternoon for a late lunch.Last thing, if you're over 6'4", make sure you duck at the front door. 😆
