"Excellent cardio workshop. Really informative: I learned how to use the cardio machines properly, which will enhance my training. All my questions were answered and there was time for some practice too. Came away feeling confident and motivated."Thanks Chris and Format Fitness Team

I joined with a desire to get fit and was overweight , out of shape and low strength and stamina. Never had done weight training before. The fantastic team at FF - special mention to Ben and Steph put me through the paces and goaded me to where I am today- 10 months later .Stronger, better shape, 10 kgs lighter, greater stamina ( my runs are longer and pace incredibly improved) and great build up in confidence .Hugely recommend this centre if you wish effective custom training and individual attention

As a new joiner, I have been welcomed and found the sessions fun and not at all intimidating. The premises are spotless and very well resourced with mainly free weight equipment. I love the broad range of exercises and mix of bands, dumbbells etc. making it possible to replicate at home. It is lovely to chat while exercising, making the time go faster. Anna Lisa’s classes are excellent - as well as being friendly and chatty she puts in a great deal of effort with posture, safe lifting etc. I can feel the difference after her classes.

I’ve been a member of this gym for 5 years and I absolutely love this gym. It has such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and the sessions are genuinely something I look forward to.The trainers are knowledgeable, encouraging and really attentive, and I particularly appreciate the little corrections to form and technique throughout a session. The classes are varied, challenging and really well structured, and the 50-minute format is perfect – focused, efficient training that always feels like time well spent. There is a real sense of community too, which makes training actually enjoyable rather than a chore. I think it’s very much a place where you get out of it what you put in – there’s plenty of encouragement and support, but also the opportunity to really push yourself and make progress.I always leave feeling like I’ve worked hard and in a better mood than when I arrived. Such a great little gym and one I’d happily recommend.

Can’t recommend Format Fitness more. A really great group of instructors who helped me get stronger and then supported me in keeping fit through my pregnancy.

I had an excellent experience training with Format Fitness for over a year. It is staffed by a friendly, knowledgable team and the varied full body programmes enable consistent progression without the boredom kicking in. Highly recommended!

Cracking little gem of a gym suitable for all fitnesses. I've been coming for four years and I wouldn't change a thing. The team are lovely, the other members are really supportive, and I feel incredibly healthy. Thank you Format Fitness!

Can't speak highly enough of Format Fitness - I love the format of small group personal training; the trainers are all super professional but work hard to create a fun and inclusive atmosphere. This place is for people of all shapes and sizes who want to look after themselves a bit more. You're encouraged to work hard but based on your own goals. Feel so lucky to have this in Wanstead.

I’ve been with Format Fitness for a year now having joined a gym for the first time in my life. The team were so welcoming and encouraging from the beginning and the place has a real community feel about it. People of all ages and abilities. The small group format works well in that you get the benefit of instructors helping you progress and improve in addition to a more social experience than a one-on-one format. Would thoroughly recommend.

I love being a member of this gym….the coaches are excellent and it really is a community. Sessions are fun yet challenging, people are fab and you get results. I’ve been a member for over 3 years and never felt stronger and happier. If you’re looking to start exercising, then I can’t recommend Format Fitness enough…do it!

A very welcoming place and well structured classes.

I’ve had a really positive experience being a member of Format Fitness. It’s consistently clean, well organised, well maintained and generally very well run. The team are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely encouraging, they take the time to adapt exercises if you’re dealing with injuries or if something just doesn’t work for you. What really stands out is the atmosphere. It’s a welcoming, non intimidating space where you feel comfortable no matter your fitness level. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a supportive and friendly place to train.

I can’t recommend Format Fitness high enough. The trainers are super friendly, relaxed and completely know what they are doing to the highest standard. It’s the perfect place to go for strength training if you, like me, don’t like gyms! Super relaxed, fun and you work hard too!

2026-04-18T13:16:22.442Z

I’ve been training at Format Fitness for the past two years and couldn’t recommend more - everyone there is so friendly including the trainers who work closely with you to make sure you’re working to reach your goals, whatever they may be. I’ve become much stronger and confident in my fitness since joining and really enjoy challenging myself with the right support!

I absolutely love format fitness, it’s amazing. I genuinely look forward to every single session, which says everything. The atmosphere is always so positive and motivating, and the coaches are incredibly kind, supportive, and just overall brilliant at what they do.A big shoutout to Ben, Steph, Adam, Annalisa, Chris and Brad, you all make such a difference and create an environment that keeps me coming back. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Great set up for small group personal training. The classes are structured to get a full body workout including a cardio session at the end all under 50 mins - so fitting classes into a busy schedule is easy. It’s the most consistently attended gym that I’ve ever joined, usually I lose interest after a few weeks but Format got me the improvement in my health and fitness that I was looking for.The PTs are very good and will guide you through any concerns and will suggest alternatives if you have a slight injury. If you’re looking to get in shape, no matter how long you’ve spent away from a gym, then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Format Fitness.

Amazing small group experience.Best bits:- the social nature: just as important and beneficial as the physical- no two sessions the same - always a small tweak between sessions- bigger changes every month- free Sunday sessions are fun! As are the Xmas sessions!- tailored exercises, check-ins and adjustments for injuries.- good to work out, especially the last 10 minutes to some good music. Stef wins hands down on this one! Thanks team! Differences noted after sticking with it over several months - every month I’m feeling stronger.

I can’t thank this team enough. They have given me my confidence back after 2 kids. Strength training has become part of my routine, it’s really helped me with the perimenopause and overall my mental health. And I feel fitter than ever heading into my 50s.

2026-04-17T17:12:03.158Z

Having recently gotten back into strength training after a long break and a lot of excuses, I have felt so strong since joining Format Fitness! The small groups are fab, the trainers are all excellent and they're really good at challenging and supporting you. After developing some unrelated knee pain, Stef and Ben in particular have been incredible at adapting the exercises on the spot and helping me so I still get an awesome workout. A lovely little community too. Couldn't be happier with my decision to join ❤️

I started training at format fitness before a distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic cancer. They helped me get in shape pre op and I’ve been consistently coming for the past year post op. They’ve helped me regain my fitness and strength in a great environment. I’d highly recommend the team to anyone.

What an amazing place to train and get better at fitness! I trained with them previously last year and its a great clean gym with easy booking system. For me this was perfect, turn up at 6/7am session for an hour, use the clean showers for a freshen up before going into work!I have since rejoined again as the support they give is fantastic. Clean amazing gym and highly recommend!

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Format Fitness is genuinely one of the best gyms I’ve ever experienced. The coaches are outstanding! highly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping you progress. The gym itself is always clean, organised, welcoming, and relaxed, creating an environment where people of all levels can feel comfortable. Their small group PT sessions are excellent and still feel personal, with the attention and support of one-to-one coaching. What really sets Format Fitness apart is the atmosphere. The trainers and members create a community that feels more like a group of friends than a gym. Everyone is supportive, encouraging, and happy to help, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble.I honestly can’t recommend Format Fitness highly enough.

Absolutely fantastic place. I was a bit unsure about joining at first as I've never been a massive fan of group exercise, but this place is just full of super nice people (trainers & other clients) and the training is spot on. It never feels like a chore but you know you're getting a good workout every time. All of the trainers are amazing and being in such a small group means they can (and actively do) make sure you're pushing to the right level and make adaptations if you need.

2026-04-17T11:54:52.335Z

When I walked into Format Fitness I wanted somewhere that I would feel comfortable and could work out at my level. But with the encouragement and support of the staff here, I've been able to increase my fitness. I went knowing that I should be exercising, but now look forward to exercising.

2026-04-17T11:17:08.629Z

Thanks to everyone at Format Fitness for being so supportive and helping me get back into a gym routine. I've been so happy since joining and really look forward to coming along. So much better than faceless gyms where you are just a number. The PTs and other members so friendly & the workouts are really well thought out and work every part of your body. Deff recommend Format Fitness to anyone in the Wanstead / Snaresbrook area.

2026-04-17T09:41:47.370Z

I have been a member at Format Fitness since it opened and I really enjoy the style of training. The team are very knowledgeable, able to adapt programmes to individual needs and really help clients meet their fitness goals. Other members are friendly and welcoming and the sessions always feel rewarding. I would highly recommend FF to anyone looking for a supportive, challenging and fun way to train.

2026-04-16T20:17:19.621Z

I cannot recommend FF highly enough and am so grateful it is here in Wanstead. I have been training at FF for four months now having always been too intimidated by other gyms. The excellent team and brilliant format is very slick and having had a year of ill health I was very weak when I started but swiftly started seeing weekly progress which is so encouraging. It’s not an overstatement to say FF has been a real lifeline to me both mentally and physically.

2026-04-16T19:18:55.280Z

This gym has totally changed my view on gyms and personal trainers! They're by far the friendliest, no-ego trainers out there. They're always willing to support you and push you in the right direction.Plus, training in smaller groups means I always get feedback if my posture isn't right. I always leave the sessions feeling positive and looking forward to the next one!

I love to train at format fitness, the team are great and you get to meet people from the area too. Classes are challenging but fun (mostly!). Thanks to the team :)
