Our experience at Doe Mountain Recreation Area was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. A huge thank you to James, who went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing adventure. His knowledge of the area was incredible, and he provided detailed guidance on the trails, points of interest, and the best scenic overlooks to visit. His recommendations truly made our trip memorable.The scenery throughout Doe Mountain is breathtaking. One of the highlights was visiting the fire tower that James recommended. The panoramic views from the top were spectacular and offered some of the most beautiful mountain vistas we've ever seen. Be sure to bring a camera because the views are worth capturing.The side-by-sides were in excellent condition, easy to drive, and perfect for riders of all experience levels. Whether you're a first-time driver or a seasoned off-road enthusiast, there is something for everyone here. The trail system is exceptionally well designed, with plenty of beginner-friendly routes that allow newcomers to build confidence, as well as more technical and challenging trails that will keep experienced drivers engaged and entertained.Between the incredible scenery, well-maintained equipment, diverse trail options, and James's exceptional customer service, Doe Mountain Recreation Area exceeded all expectations. We can't wait to come back and explore even more of what this amazing place has to offer.

We came from south Florida and had the most spectacular time. We did the 2 hour side by side rental and wish we did at least the 4 hour rental because of how enjoyable it was. Customer service was great, we will most definitely be coming back

Night ride really enjoyed it. Great idea would be put great solar lights along the way for special rides. Charge 10$ for these rides. Bring in more riders and have more events as this.

Our group rented 2 side-by-sides and a 4 seater. We also had a 4 wheel drive ATV. We had a great time. The service was very helpful and answered all our questions. This is not a “walk in the park” outing. The trails were challenging and required you pay attention. We mostly stayed on the “easy” number 1 trail. The rented units handled the trail pretty easily, but that is not to say it was a smooth groomed trail. In fact, it was rutted and bumpy for long stretches. The 4 wheel ATV had a harder time than the rented Polaris units. It was really fun. These trails would be challenging to novice motorcycle riders due to all the rocks. I would recommend this outing so long as you are not looking for Sunday ride on a groomed path.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Doe Mountain Recreation Area! The guided tour was one of the highlights of my trip and gave me the chance to see parts of the mountain I never would have discovered on my own.A huge shoutout to Brie and Deena. They were awesome! They were knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the entire experience fun from start to finish. You can tell they’re passionate about the mountain and genuinely enjoy sharing it with others.I was lucky enough to catch the rhododendrons still in bloom, which made the trails even more beautiful. And the overlooks… wow. The views stretching across Johnson County and over Watauga Lake were absolutely spectacular and worth every minute.If you’re looking for amazing scenery, great people, and a memorable outdoor adventure, I can’t recommend Doe Mountain Recreation Area enough. I’ll definitely be back!

Raw enough to feel like you found a hidden gem, but refined enough to feel like everything’s been thought through. Awesome place for hiking and off-roading! The fire tower view is pretty special.
