I booked a beginner's 1-to-1 lesson with Big Wave Dave. While waiting for the time of the lesson, I had a coffee and an avocado toast in order to get some energy. The coffee was really nice and the toast really good. The surfing instructor, Kodi, was really good. He was very helpful, he made sure he told me the important bits about safety, but without missing the having fun aspect of surfing. I had 2 good rides on my first lesson. I thoroughly enjoyed it! One week later, I found myself on Maui, I just rented a board, asked which was the best nearest beach for beginners (Launiupoko) and went by myself to catch some waves. I managed to stay upright on the first wave I caught. All the training from Kodi kicked in and I jumped up straight away and brought that ride all the way in! On the second ride, I even managed to lie on again to the board, turn around and paddle back out! Please pass my thanks to Kodi! I highly recommend Big Wave Dave for coffee, food (did I mention that the banana bread is to die for?) and surfing lessons! Mahalo and aloha! Less

We had a blast for our first time surfing! Our instructor was so helpful and gave us great tips on how to tweak our form and we were able to stand up and surf for a few seconds (which was way better than how I thought we would do!). Would definitely recommend for beginners looking for a fun activity or new experience! Less

I got a mango smoothie and did the outrigger canoe ride! The smoothie was very refreshing and was perfect for the weather! The outrigger canoe ride was a blast and the staff were all friendly! The shop was really cool as well with lots of stuff to browse and buy. I’ll be back soon for a surf lesson! Less

This was a wonderful tour. I was thinking it would be an interesting experience that I had never done before, but I was wrong. It was fantastic. I was in the front of the outrigger canoe and when our very accomplished captain, Captain John Paul, told the six of us to paddle, we did. He found the perfect wave and as we stopped paddling and told us to stand, I was like, "you want us to stand?" So, throwing caution to the wind, I stood at the bow of the canoe and it truly felt like I was surfing the wave. A memorable experience that I will cherish. Less
