We did surfing lessons with Big Wave Dave Surf for the very first time, and I must say they were great! They first explained all the different techniques, and we then did a trial run at the surf shop. We then walked to Wakiki Beach to surf for about an hour & it was probably more than time. The instructor gave us confidence and kept us positive, and although I didn't end up standing up, it was a lot of fun! Also, what a great workout!!! Thank you, guys! It was fun!! Less

Michael our instructor was a Saint - patient and thorough in explanations and showing us what to do and then when out there - what not to do and to correct. Eventually we got it and we were surfing!! What a thrilling experience - highly recommend Big Wave Daves :) Less

Patient, considerate, and pleasant; best way I can think to describe the two guys that helped our group. A short walk from the shop to the beach, store has anything you need you didn't bring with you. Locker available, rent a lock or bring one and keep your stuff there, unless you have someone staying on the beach to watch it. We had 8 students and 2 instructors, so a 4:1 ratio, and they talked everyone through a couple runs each at least. Well, everyone but my wife and one other person who both said "no thanks" once we got out there, haha. Definitely need to rethink my gym routine yo, this sport takes some serious shoulder muscle endurance. Instructors did everything they could to keep us moving and hitting as much of the surf as possible to get some tries in. Small waves, but steady supply, good choice of spots to teach us newbies. Honestly I didn't make it up to my feet until the very last try while my kiddo made it on his first. I should ground him, knock him down a peg, lol. How dare he make the old man look bad. Great experience, good time, definitely recommend. Only downside is the kid wants to keep learning here at home in NYC so I guess he has a new hobby to pay for! Less

I’ve always wanted to try it and thanks to the pros with BWDs, I was able to learn how to ride a wave. I was in a group with really young kids, young adults, and here I am in my 40s. But they kept everyone together, learning, and having fun. Ultimately, they kept us all focused on learning the basics of safe surfing. Their guidance out in the water was invaluable, worth every penny if you’ve never surfed. Thank you BWDs! You guys rock. So thankful. And so happy I got to ride and fall several times, but you helped me get back up and learn with each try. And finally got to ride one in style 🤙 Less
