A1 Choice Heating & A/C
A1 Choice Heating and AC installed a new Furnace and AC unit for me on August 27th & 28th. Several years ago Kyle Grossart and his father had done a tune up on our system a few years ago at a reasonable price. His father Jim has since retired. Back at that time, I must have called 4 or 5 companies prior to calling A1 Choice and wanted to know how much they would charge for charging the R410A coolant. Nobody could give me a cost estimate except A1 Choice. All of the others wanted to charge me a trip charge of $50 to $200 to tell me what I already knew. When I called the other companies I always got a receptionist that only booked appointments and knew nothing about HVAC systems. Kyle’s father, Jim called me back that evening and gave me a rough estimate. A1 Choice cleaned my condenser, adjusted the fan blade height on the condenser, adjusted the fan speed of the heat exchange blower, charged the R410A, 1.5 pounds and cleaned the dust out of the furnace. They spent almost two hours here and it cost less than $400. I have had other companies’ charge that amount just to charge coolant in the past. Our system was 27 years old and still running well but nearing the end of its life. A1 Choice is a small company, its Kyle and his helper Brandon. We met and discussed our options of Trane equipment. Kyle took measurements and also charged our AC, R410A. We were 3.5 pounds low and the unit had an undetectable micro leak. He did not charge us anything and wanted to help us get through the rest of the month through the above average heat until the new unit was installed. He spent a lot of time discussing the new technology and options and also answering a lot of my questions. Kyle is very sharp and knows what he is talking about. He did not try to BS me or upsell me stuff that I did not need. I opted to get an 80% efficient unit while they are still available. He was able to find the last one in his supplier’s warehouse. Within a day or so we had an estimate for the new equipment and install, almost $17K. Most of my neighbors spent around $20K for their HVAC replacements and some of theirs were inferior brands like Goodman. Kyle had the condenser unit shipped directly to my house since it was too big for his van and arranged for that delivery a couple days prior to install. He brought the rest of the equipment on his van. He applied for the permit and emailed me the documents. He always called ahead and let me know what was going on, when the truck was on the way or when he was headed over to our house. Everything happened as advertised, he kept his word on everything. He arrived on time every appointment and also was accurate with his estimates on how long the job would take. He had our AC running the first day around 3 PM. The heater was running by 11 AM the next day and he was out of here by 12:30 PM. He even gave me 3 new furnace filters to get me by until I can order more. He instructed me to install a CO/Smoke detector in a hallway upstairs since we only had one in the basement, all the others are just regular smoke detectors. There are new requirements now since the house was built in 1999. He also offered to register the warranty info for us since some people forget. He emailed me the warranty confirmation papers a few days later. He offers great customer service! I highly recommend A1 Choice Heating & AC for new equipment or just regular maintenance and repairs. I have done business with a handful of HVAC companies and most of them have good, qualified people that do good work but I always feel like I got ripped off after I get the invoice. Kyle stands out because he is very honest, conscientious and affordable. No games, no bull. If I could give him 6 stars I would!
