The San Juan Islands are known as the Salish seas. The name of this healing studio cannot be whimsical. The proprietor practitioner has gone to extraordinary effort and expense to decorate the studio in a unique ambience. I had a treatment with singing bowls which I fondly refer to as "Spinal Gong" type therapeutic application of tuned sound therapy. It is free from whimsical idea at all although I have seen a few reviews and it appears close-minded and whimsical mentality to say such things about such an amazing experience. It is well researched and well documented concepts of sound healing therapy and I experienced precision application and it has long-term long-lasting residual beneficial effect on me . I suffered from brain injury from MVA and have been recovering for the last 20 years. The intuitive application of these concepts and the sympathetic nervous system response is extraordinary .

I don't normally write reviews, but because Roxanne offers such a unique (to me) massage and some might be caught off guard by it, I'm motivated to write one. My wife arranged the massage for me as a surprise birthday present. She mentioned a little about it, but basically I went in blind, prepared for a few off beat (to me) things.The dominant thing I recall was the strength of her fingers and hands. They reached places in me that I never knew I had, where the pain was both intense and welcome at the same time. I could feel her reaching places no other masseuse had before, and had the feeling that it could be very helpful. Roxanne did not ask how much I wanted of the stones and gongs, and she didn't use too much with me. But what she did, I found intriguing, and next time I would ask for more. It's now two weeks later, and I still feel a looseness and sense of well being from the hour plus we spent together. Further, a nagging pain I had in my shoulder--which I did not tell her about--was gone. Two earlier masseuses elsewhere had been directed to work on it without beneficial result, so it's doubly remarkable. Great work, Roxanne!

My girlfriend and I went in for a couple's massage, and we were ironed out in the best ways possible. She got her knee worked on to where it was pain free, and I got my shoulders relaxed for the first time in a LONG time. We both were given a hot stone treatment, and it's a nice change from how I've been treated in the past; deep, but even pressure, with the added benefit of heat. As a couple or solo, definitely book an appointment with Roxanne and/or Erin.

I exercise a lot and my job requires heavy lifting occasionally, and because of those factors, I have frequently chosen to go to Roxanne to get a massage. Due to COVID-19, she has had to undergo the same protocols as anyone in this type of business. You go in, get your temp checked, and then wear a mask while you get a massage, and she wore her mask. It was very professional and awkward, but we made it work. Awkward, because who wants to wear a mask during a massage? Roxanne, utilizes techniques that I never thought would work to alleviate physical pain, and she is very knowledgeable about the human body. The Tuning Forks, Singing Bowls, and Essential Oils she uses in tandem with relaxing music, has this de-toxifying effect that can be felt well after the massage. She is one of the BEST Masseuses in the San Juan Islands!! She has a customer in me, for life!

Massage by the Sea has a lovely atmosphere, with mermaid iconography abundant, and the vibes you get when you're sitting in the lobby, reinforce the level of care that Roxanne (the owner) displays toward your body. She utilizes hot stones, essential oils in ayurvedic fashion, Tibetan Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks, and a wonderfully heated massage table to relax you and de-toxify your body. I frequently request her services, because she makes me feel good, she is knowledgeable about the human body, and has over 20 years of experience with massage. I think she is a unique masseuse because of her level of expertise, and her ability to utilize all of these tools to make sure your pain goes away. Drink plenty of water afterward! I will forever employ her services!Due to COVID-19 Pandemic Protocols, you will have to wear a mask, have your temp checked at the door, and go through a check-list to ensure safety, She also wears a mask when she performs massage. The environment felt very safe and clean!

I regularly get massages to help my crazy back, which is always tense and full of knots because of a couple of degenerated discs and a sedentary, stressful job. So I've been around the block a few times, and Roxanne gives the best massages I've ever had. She starts out using tuning forks and singing bowls, which, although I first thought were a bit crazy, relax my back more quickly than anything I've tried besides actual acupuncture. Feels great and sounds very peaceful, with a happy "bong bong" of ringing bell sounds around you. My back is immediately a ton easier to work on, and then she moves on to give an incredibly thorough massage using hot stones. Roxanne is incredibly intuitive and knows her anatomy very well - she quickly honed in on issues that chiropractors and physical therapists have warned me about in the past. She took time after the massage to show me some good stretches for the psoas and muscles around the ITB. For several years, I've come back every time I'm in Orcas Island get a wonderful massage!

I had a wonderful experience with Roxanne today. I came in with a tremendously sore back and neck. After 90 minutes of well-targeted and moderately deep massage, I nearly floated away from the studio. The tight muscles which have dogged me for weeks were all but gone. Highly recommend!

Spending some time with Roxanne is one of the best things you could do in Eastsound. I love getting "in tune" and enjoy her warm stone deep tissue treatments. She has strong hands and a magical establishment. Very relaxing and informative as she is constantly learning new methods and ways to enhance your message experience. I am recovering from hip replacement surgery...done about 5 weeks ago...and I highly recommend seeing Roxanne for her therapeutic hot stone massage! I had one a few days ago and can now walk pain free without my cane...most of the time. The difference is amazing and is making my recovery so much easier! Bodywork with Roxanne is unique and fluid. The ambience of her space is the first hint this is no ordinary massage. Soothing lighting, blues, greens, silks, shells, glass art, it's like stepping into a gypsy caravan. Experienced and skilled, she is patient and tenacious in coaxing fascia and muscle into softness. No one has ever used hot rocks so adeptly on me. I like deep massage and she is strong and can deliver. The tuning forks and singing bowls are a great vibe and feel awesome. Our couples' massage was a highlight of our visit to Orcas Island. Roxanne and Elysee (sp?) put us at ease in their exotically decorated studio with their friendly easy-going nature. They worked their therapeutic magic while we stretched out on comfortable massage tables draped in warmed sheets. They applied a variety of techniques such harmonic bowls and tuning forks which were new to us but intriguing. Our favorite though was the hot stones and deep tissue massage. So thoroughly relaxing for our tight and weary muscles.

Best massage I have EVER gotten! Such a unique experience where the masseuse used tuning forks and metal bowls to send vibrations through your muscles to prime them for massage. It totally worked and I swear she got all the knots out of my back which never seems possible. Couldn't recommend more!
