I trained with Canaan for 5 years and observed his transition from competitor to teacher and also got to benefit from it. He has a great way of making the complex simple and breaking it down in a way you can understand and incorporate into your game. He is extremely patient and invested in the progress of his students and training partners. Basin Jiu Jitsu is a great place to train and sharpen your skills.

Exceptional jujitsu gym with an even better owner/instructor! Canaan really takes the time explaining and showing his students extremely important techniques along with helping out in any areas where you may be stuck in your jujitsu journey. He also owns a separate business deep cleaning mats, so the gym mats here are always immaculate! If you’re looking to learn jujitsu, skills that help you stay calm under pressure in your everyday life, or just roll around with a very skilled and dedicated teacher, Basin Jujitsu is the place to be!

Canaan is one of the best jiu jitsu teachers/coaches I've worked with. At 72 yoa, I started late (LOL) and I'm still going at 76. Naturally, my abilities and limitations were a concern to me. Canaan knows how to adjust his teaching for the diverse needs of his students. Kids love him and so do his other students! Parents can't go wrong by entrusting their children to his teaching.
