First time meeting John today. We have a 7yr old rescue staffie mix who we’ve been working hard with for the last 18months, she’s a wee star but we were struggling with resolving her anxiety and reactivity to other dogs so got in touch with John.From the very first moment we knew she was in safe and knowledgeable hands. He is calm, deliberate, and clear - everything we needed today. Clover did great, he handled her amazingly and we came away with a far greater understanding of what to do to help both our dog and us.What I liked most is his honesty, he didn’t tell us we needed x amount of sessions. He recognised we could handle what was provided and suggested we get on with it and get in touch for a further socialisation session later on. That level of honesty is exactly what builds trust. We needed help with our cockapoo, Otto after we had our baby last summer. Helen responded really quickly and visited us the same week. Otto, who has always been a bit anxious and reactive to sounds and strangers in the house (barking) was really struggling when our baby started to cry properly at around 6 weeks old. We were already exhausted and at the end of our tether so really desperately needed help as the constant simultaneous barking and crying was just too much. Helen could not have been more amazing. She was so kind and empathetic and within one session made us feel like we had the tools to start working with Otto right away. It felt like she just ‘got it’ and understood the dog in front of her, which was amazing. We followed the exercises Helen gave us (which didn’t take much time or brain space, neither of which we had in abundance at the time). Within a matter of weeks we started to see a difference and Otto was barking less. After several months he was like a different dog. We have also made sure that our baby is ‘trained’ not to approach the dog. The result is a harmonious household! Otto now just relaxes and minds his own business around the baby and we have never had to worry about them being in the same environment which is not a place I honestly ever expected to get to. Particularly through crawling and now walking, I can’t believe he is just completely not bothered by the baby. We really can’t thank Helen enough as the difference her help and support has made to our family is immeasurable!

Mia our gsd was showing signs of reactivity towards other dogs. John has gave us pointers to recognise the signs before she reacts and to distract her from her nervous reaction. She has come on leaps and bounds since we started the training program and can't thank John enough for all his help with her. Would highly recommend John to anyone that needs help with their dog

I met Helen to help with my springer. He is very distracted on walks particularly if there is balls around! Helen helped show me how to let my dog process his feelings & take in his surroundings. Also some fun training games to keep him engaged with me. Already seeing a massive improvement in just a few weeks since our training session.

We asked the Glasgow Dog Trainer to support us with transitioning from living separately with 2 dogs who didn't get along indoors and needed separated with baby gates, to moving in to the same house together. Helen responded really quickly offering an initial phone consultation to discuss how she could help, what the training would likely entail, how long it might take to see results and to arrange an in person session. The in person session was great and gave us a completely different outlook on our dogs. Everything we were asked to do was through positive reinforcement and was well explained along with the theory behind why we were doing it, which I loved. We've seen some fantastic progress in our dogs ability to settle in each others presence, and they now even play together when outside when before they just did their own thing. We've been supported throughout in a group chat where we could share videos and get advice on what to do differently/to progress further. We've since had a further face to face session where we were given different exercises to work on along with the theory behind them, and have seen even more progress. We're now at the stage where we can have both dogs in the same room being fed treats and be completely settled. We're still a work in progress but the change in our dogs' behaviour is testament to the fact that Helen knows what she's doing and is able to achieve tangible results. Thank you!

We recently rescued a Frenchie called Ghost who was a stray and has some very challenging behaviours. He is deaf too. Helen was recommended to us due to her experience working with rescue dogs, and with dogs who are deaf. From the very first call, her knowledge was clear and she took time to listen to the issues. We’ve had a couple of extremely helpful sessions and have been given helpful exercises/games to begin to rebuild Ghost’s confidence and our bond with him. We’ve a long way to go and a lot of work to do but we can already see progress. Helen has been extremely reassuring, keeps in contact with helpful tips, and assists with any problems we’ve encountered. Would highly recommend.

It's been a very good experience working with Helen the last few months. My young dog is generally unsettled and easily spooked, and has much to learn about interacting with other dogs and humans, but we are feeling optimistic since working with Helen that we can help build his confidence and his social skills. In fact, we have already seen progress. There are no magic fixes, you and your dog have to put the work in, but Helen provides a well-informed framework and the encouragement you need to succeed. Plus, she has been very available whenever I have had additional questions or needed clarification. I fully recommend Helen for anyone wanting to raise a happy, confident dog they have a strong bond with.

We approached Helen when we were having trouble with Barney as a puppy, not knowing how to work with a puppy and train him.Helen has been great teaching the fundamentals of living with our dog and helped so much with training ways to keep the puppy calm and learn leash skills and various ways to let him grow confidence, as well as us! Helen is also fantastic at helping us to think from Barney’s point of view.Helen always provides a wealth of information, homework exercises with accompanying videos and is a real support as we now navigate the fun teenage phase!

Had six sessions with John for my dalmatian/retriever Cross who is very young but also very excited. The difference with kobe is outstanding walking much better on the lead no more head down shoulders down and pull. His recall and connecting with me has hugely improved as well. We reached out as our new dog had very little recall and high prey drive. Helen was absolutely fab with her and us, giving us the skills to help keep her safe. I contacted John as I have a 4 year old french bulldog that I've had for 2 years and she is so reactive and aggressive to people and other dogs. I've tried other trainers but all they done was put a slip lead on her or they said spray her with water. John came to see her and showed me what to do and what I was doing wrong as I didn't realise I was making her worse. I know it will be challenging but with everything he has taught me after only 1 lesson I know I can help her.

We contacted John as our 4 1/2 year old Cockapoo had been snapping and showing signs of aggression for approx one year. She is very sensitive to loud noises especially fireworks. We were referred to a vet behaviourist by our vet. She was prescribed painkillers and possibly out of date training methods which we stopped after a while as we were not getting anywhere. John has completely changed our outlook on dog training by using positive reinforcement, and as our Lottie is treat orientated, has taken like a duck to water. We still have a way to go with training but after John's very knowledgeable advice and training techniques we are 100% sure we'll get there.I would recommend John to everyone who is concerned about their dogs behaviour. Our wee one year old Staffie was becoming reactive with other dogs and we wanted to make sure we were doing the right thing for her. Helen called us back and right away I knew we had someone with great knowledge and experience. Before our session she sent us lots of information and preparation tasks. During our session we started outside as she demonstrated and explained techniques, then observed and guided us. We then moved indoors and she spent a long time demonstrating and guiding us to communicate more effectively with Mabel. It was clear right away that the methodology was kind, intuitive and very effective. Helen’s empathy extended to us and our pup, giving us the confidence to build a lovely relationship. Helen has continued to stay in touch, sending information and asking how we are doing. I would highly recommend the Glasgow Dog Trainers as professional, humane and empathetic people. There were no harsh words, no painful tools and lots of understanding.

We began working with Helen when Nelson was just 12 weeks old, as we felt it was important to start his training early given how big he would eventually grow. Helen helped us establish structure and set good habits right from the beginning, making sure we put the right work into his development.She taught us how to help Nelson relax, so he can now settle himself both at home and when we take him out to cafés or bars. Helen also supported us in teaching him to walk nicely on the lead, develop a reliable recall, and even perform an emergency stop for situations where he might otherwise put himself in danger. Although we have only had one session, I left feeling more confident and equipped with tools to walk Bear and deal with the situations that had previously distressed him. We initially reached out as our dog had become really anxious at night time due to noise sensitivity, which was triggered by fireworks. Helen was great to work with and really took the time to understand our whippet. She provided us with the tools to help rebuild our dogs confidence which has made a massive difference already. We managed to make it through bonfire night without the usual panting and crying which felt like a massive milestone. Seeing the difference has really helped us to stick to our daily training. I called upon the help of Glasgow Dog Trainer and Behaviourist as I was struggling with my 1 year old Maltese puppy, Zak. He was very reactive towards larger dogs on a walk. I was worried for him and it was beyond me how to help him as id used YouTube, books and other behaviourists with zero success. I didnt want to give up on him.My first meeting was with Helen. She taught me how to hold the lead, how to be more relaxed on a walk. How to use various techniques with him. Including how to do the pairing technique with him, which works a treat.Helen came to my home also, showed me how to do the relaxation training with him. He got 10/10. We still do this. He has surprised me how well he is doing and how focused he is whilst doing it.All the information and changes in place now are 100% working for him.If you are ever in any kind of doubt about your dogs behavior or worried in any way, I highly recommend using Helen. Helen has been working with us and our now 2 year old border collie for the past few months. We have had a few park sessions and a house session and the change in Frankie has been wonderful.Helen has been very patient with the 3 of us and is always at the end of a message with advice and feedback between sessions too.Her understanding of Frankie is unreal and her way of supporting us to get the best out of him has been great.At home frankie is much more relaxed. We even mamaged to watch a full football match with him asleep at our feet for the 1st time in 18 months as usually he would have been jumping at the tv. We managed a trip to arran and back with him on the ferry in the dog lounge where he managed to relax with all the other dogs about. Then the highlight was him settling to sleep under the table in the middle of a busy restaurant. Something that 6 months ago none of these ever felt possible. So its been lovely to see his and our world expanding. We have even had a stranger in the park say how well trained our dog is, is there a bigger compliment!We can't wait to see what all we can achieve with Helen by our side. And frankie at our feet.

I rehomed a tricky reactive adolescent dog last year. I worked really hard with him to discover and meet his needs. There was a big change in him, but he remained very reactive to dogs (in an excited frustrated way). Thanks to John’s help over a few in person sessions, we have both made lots of progress. He is also much less barky! All done in a positive way.I often felt I had one dog in the house and another when I left the house. My just 2 year old labrador had become so traumatised by noise/fireworks that he would not go out, used to shake and run and hide if he heard a noise. If we did get him outside he would pull or not walk. He got an infection as he was not emptying his bladder properly. I contacted John from Glasgow Training who put me in touch with Helen. She was amazing. It was done over a link as we lived hundreds of miles from them. She took an extensive history and spent time getting to know myself and Pumba. She noted that he was not able to relax, he was very reactive to any noise. Helen talked through the relaxation protocol and gave use other exercises to do aswell, including encouraging Pumba just to be....we looked at focus work as well. She also showed us how to encourage Pumba to wear a harness and also how to be more confident and calm when outside. Pumba loved being off lead out in the countryside but again was not able to just sit or lay for a while. Helen also helped with recognising our own behaviours that were feeding Pumbas anxiety and increasing his reactivity. The ethos of this training is in line with Pumbas needs. No shock collars/prong. Pumba was never forced to doing anything he did not want to do. We have been doing the training a couple of months now, slow and steady. Pumba is doing so well. He loves his morning walk now and when off lead is able to be put back on to the lead and walk nicely without reacting. He is more calm at home and does not jump or bother as much if he hears a noise. He does still have moments when he gets scared, but thanks to the advise from Helen we are able to support him to beable to carry on. He continues to be our crazy boy which is what I wanted Helen has checked in with us a few times and is always on hand for advise I know that if any other issues occurred I would use Glasgow Trauning in a heart beat.

I first met John on a bright and cold morning in Roukenglen Park. I found him to be enthusiastic and sedate. This would be how our interactions would be throughout my time with him. His teaching, once delivered, seems painfully obvious, but sometimes you’re too close.John was completely unphased by my dog and his behaviour (2 y/o Newfoundland jumping around wildly)I still have more work to do (it’s you’re fault, not the dog’s: John will make this clear to you!)I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Johns service. My dog, whilst not the finished item, is much, much improved and I can really enjoy his company now. I just need to get the hole digging trained out. . . .

My 1yo black Labrador is reactive towards new people, dogs and certain sounds. It was getting to the point where I would find walking with her stressful and it was taking the enjoyment out of having a dog. We have had several sessions with John now and I’m able to see the results of his advice and our training. The most useful aspect of training has been learning how to recognise my dogs body language and intervene before she gets to a certain level of stressed out. We travel from Perthshire to Glasgow and back for each session so it’s a 2+ hour round trip which is absolutely worth it for the level of education I feel I gain from John.

I adopted my 8 year old rescue dog Ollie, just before New Year, within around 3 weeks, I found he pulled like a train on the lead, was reactive at times with other dogs and I honestly wondered if I had done the right thing. I contacted John for help and I can honestly say, he has turned our lives around. In 6 sessions, using positive reinforcement only. Ollie is so much better with loose lead walking, only pulling in anticipation of going to play with his ball or an exciting pee-mail is nearby. He has absolutely no reactivity to other dogs and can walk in the park and play with his ball off lead. I will continue with online training as 8 years of bad habits don’t disappear overnight and John’s advice, experience and training have been totally invaluable, not only with Ollie but helping me become more calm and relaxed around other dogs and giving me the tools to continue on our path together. I can’t thank him enough and would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for help.
