I initially had hesitation about chiropractics, but after my first one I saw a lot of benefits. At my first chiropractor (which was a good experience) I received many of the stereotypical things, lots of pops and cracks and breath taking instant changes. I stopped for a few years. I stayed active, got the occasional massage and did some serious PT (and their varied therapies) through multiple injuries. I decided to see a chiropractor again d/t a nerve impingement that greatly limited my activity. I thought it might alleviate my symptoms and might help keep me in better shape and maybe reduce my injuries. Dr. Douglas was very thorough beforehand. We discussed my health history (which is significant), did X-rays (which he took time to go over with me in detail) and he requested previous x-rays and MRI's to review before he ever started our plan. The first few times I did prescribed exercises and stretches in clinic before he'd touch me. I noticed he wasn't popping and cracking me at all. After a few more visits I asked why? He answered with a question. He wanted to know how I felt after treatment and overall. It was taking longer than I hoped, but I voiced I felt better after each session and felt I was in a much better spot than where I started. He said, "Good. That's the plan and it's working." (Paraphrasing) he said he could get the snap, crackle and pops, too. He said sometimes they might provide more instant relief, but could work against the longer term goals. He (essentially) said his plan was to eventually lose me as a patient. Maybe not completely, but where I would not need the steady, ongoing, regular sessions. Hopefully I'd get to a point where maybe only somewhat regular adjustments might be needed (I DO have a very physically active life, 3 young children and I'm 50 before the end of the year). That conversation rocked my world. I was able to greatly reduce my treatments for a while and just recently increased my regularity again following a new injury. Dr. Douglas and his staff are professional and truly motivated to improve the health and quality of life of his patients and NOT just looking for ways to increase their bank account. 5/5, fully recommend.
