I was recently hospitalized for a hip replacement, and found that I had greatly underestimated the impact of the procedure and my ability to care for myself at home. I was in a panic as North-Shore/Skokie hospital was going to discharge me the next day. A friend referred me to Jamie Shapiro and Companion Services (Deerfield). She quickly put my mind at ease arranged for someone to care for me my first night home. She also arranged for coverage the next 6 nights, by two caregivers. Although I wasn't sure what my needs were, I told Jamie that I'd rather have someone and not need them than need someone and not have them! All three women were absolute Angels! I was so grateful for their sweetness, compassion and skill, and I know my recovery was greatly enhanced by their help and the peace of mind they provided. I felt safe at home with their care and felt like I had 3 new friends! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Companion Services to anyone in need of short or longer term help. I know they will work with you to meet your needs and the staff couldn't be more wonderful. Highly Recommended!

The staff was incredibly compassionate, professional and helpful when we contacted them when another agency failed us. Within one day, we were sent a caregiver to interview, one who met all our needs, and check all boxes, and has turned out to be a very caring and compassionate, friendly attentive caregiver for my mother. I was new to hiring caregivers for my parents. So I first went the private route which didnt work out well. A friend referred me to Companion Services and I cannot believe the difference in the care my parents are receiving. The caregivers are amazing! My parents are so happy and so well cared for. Jamie, the owner of Companion Services has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago. Her husband Steve is the accountant. The rest of the staff is equally professional. After interviewing 4 agencies to see who seemed the most interested in caring for their staff and which agency also had a caregiver with a car to drive my husband to his exercise classes and also could help him up if he fell (he had Parkinson's Disease), I thought we'd be a client for a long time.Unfortunately, my husband quickly needed more help than anticipated and Jamie readily changed the caregiver to someone who had additional hours available. But my husband died last Sunday after only ~ 2 months of service, due to Disease complications.The staff was caring, adjusted to our emergency needs, billed promptly so that LTC insurance arrived on time, and were available 24/7 to respond. This agency was recommended by one of the attentive caregivers of a member of one of my husband's Parkinson exercise classes. I also would highly recommend them.
