Volante of Carson Valley was the easiest choice for us to make when looking at a new home for my Gran! The staff, the chefs, and administration are so accommodating, the facility was extremely homey, friendly, and so peaceful. I didn't know places like this existed. Now, it isn't a standard nursing home, so there are things that are different, like they can't give residents certain over the counter meds-stuff like that. Your room is like your own apartment, so you need to provide all furnishings and linens, laundry services are included. Level of care needed for each resident can vary-along with the costs. Anything outside of your contract is added to your monthly fees, naturally. But can be a surprise if you're not aware, so be careful what you ask for that's off contract. Yeah, it's expensive, but OMG, you get what you pay for! Help. Yes. There's help when you call for it, and they are there freaking immediately. It's a different world. It's next level care with compassion and humor and just outright lovely people. My dad was only there a little over 3 weeks, and I was amazed at what I saw. Staff that stopped by to chat with him. Talked to him about things they were doing (telling him the next step so he was prepared) asked him questions and directly helped him based on his answers. They always follow their protocol-2 people for this task, one person in this area at all times, etc. Etc. There were no days of " we just have one person that showed up today -everybody is going to just have to wait" like that horrid place by the hospital. They all took such great care of him and kept him clean and comfortable. I hate that he only had his last few weeks there, I wish I would have found this place sooner. There are all kinds of daily activities and things residents can do plus family dinner nights where you can order special meals for visitors and eat together. Other times you can hang out in your room if you want or the TV room, it's totally up to you. My dad was on the memory care side, which doesn't have free access for residents to leave that wing. Visitors have to be buzzed in & out. It's nice, airy, clean, and decorated beautifully in all the public areas. I really miss some of the ladies that worked there too, like the memory care Director-Crystal, the techs Brigitte & and April, just to name a few. They kept me sane and kept me going. I moved my dad (88 years old) to this facility in February. He was in his former place in CA for 13 months and I don't think he ever learned anybody's name (he was not happy there). Here, he tells me about the staff and is so much more engaged than I have seen him in a long time. Why? I think it's because the staff are all extraordinarily nice, and not only that, they seem to really enjoy their jobs which then translates to better care. Everyone is committed to helping my dad maintain his independence without pushing him to do too much or what he doesn't want to do. I highly recommend Voltante on KImmerling in Gardnerville. Take a look, talk to Rosa and Melissa, and enjoy the fabulous vibe. They don't try to be a resort like my dad's old place. They make the place feel like home. Less
