My husband and I are thankful to Catalyst and its team for remodeling our bathroom. Jess and her crew did a very good job overall despite some issues that arose. Our existing wall wasn’t plumbed so when the new cabinets and countertops were installed they looked wonky and were in an angle with the straight tile marks. I was very worried about it so I communicated these issues to Jess, our PM. Jess acknowledged the problems and reassured me that she will fix them and she did! Within the next two days, she had lined up workers to straighten parts of the wall, cabinet and countertops. I’m thankful that we hired a GC company that kept its promise. Now we have a bathroom that is the fanciest part of the house all thanks to Catalyst Construction. I especially want to thank Jess, Natalie, Angie, Devon, Jake, Roberto, the father and sons who did the tiles (great work) and the plumber and his nephew ( who fixed an issue that could have been very costly and in a timely manner) for the hard work you all put in the project. We retained Catalyst to complete an extensive repair and remodel project. To make matters more complicated, we would be managing the project from out of state and looking to list the house for sale in time for a Spring listing. We needed a lot done. We needed it done on-time and on-budget. We braced ourselves for a challenging fall/winter while the work was completed, but the work could not have gone more smoothly. From the first meeting with the business owner (Jason) and our project manager (Jess), we were impressed with the level of professionalism compared to other contractors we met. That level of professionalism, coupled with the quality of workmanship from the trades and responsiveness of our PM, continued throughout the project. We received regular communication and updates and photos of the progress. We knew exactly what was happening on site each day. When hiccups happened, as they will, they were few and far between. It was, actually, sort of a dream working with Catalyst. It took us forever to finalize what we actually wanted to do, but they were keen to work with us, within our budget, and aligning with our design personalities and functionality needs. Jess Jackson, our project manager, was super on top of things, super friendly, and generally a joy to work with. Our handyman Devon was personable, capable, respectful, and pleasant as well. When things changed in our design plans, they were quick to offer options. They worked around our at home work schedules and were as non-disruptive as possible when they were here. These guys are great. So hard to find a company that is prompt, thorough and technically sound these days, But the Catalyst Construction folks hit all three marks. They installed a new exterior door on our Austin house. Job included removing existing door, removing rotted door frame and then installing new frame, door and hardware. All work was completed with perfection and care you would expect in a much larger project. They even matched our exterior paint for the new door and frame. They showed up when they said they would and completed the job on schedule. In addition to the actual work, the communication before during and after the job was spot on. Lastly, their invoice was detailed and easy to follow. No having to guess exactly what I was being charged. Bottom line - I will definitely use Catalyst for future small and large jobs. We used Catalyst to completely remodel both bathrooms to fix issues created by our former contractor and to change out all interior doors in our house. This was our third engagement with a contractor to do major work on our house, and Catalyst was BY FAR the most professional, organized, and transparent. I was most impressed by the team's attention to detail as I had high expectations with our bathroom redos (after only five years from a previous remodel). In addition to ensuring that all work was code-compliant, I was most particular about the tile work, which included terrazzo tile flooring, and the team exceeded my expectations. If I expressed any concern about an item, it was corrected quickly. I had a challenging time locating a contractor with transparent pricing, but with Catalyst's bid, I could see - line by line - the cost associated with each item, which I appreciated. Their pricing is competitive and very fair for the quality of work that is delivered. Just a couple of months after finishing our bathrooms and doors, we rehired Catalyst to do some framing/drywall/paint work for our primary bedroom closet. The staff at Catalyst was very responsive, considerate, and understood our preferences well. They also offered useful advice with cost/value considerations when we weren’t sure what we wanted. Almost a dozen times neighbors came up to me during construction and asked for references to both the general contractor and the subs because of the good work ethic and quality output. My wife and I recently worked with Catalyst and hired them on to renovate our home (kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, installation of flooring, installation of ceiling fans and lighting, redesign of a laundry room, floor tiling). Throughout the process, they were communicative and direct with us about our hopes and goals for the project and the timeline for it, as well. Based on past experience with other contractors, we were always surprised that they responded to our questions in a timely fashion, offering guidance and advice as best as was available. They stuck to their original timeline well and came in within the budget projected. For context, we were the absolute worst customers we could be, continuously requesting small changes and asking for emendations to the original bid. They not only accommodated our requests but often made suggestions about how best to pursue our requests. We're about to move into the house after a three-month project timeline that they largely kept to (November through January): the house looks beautiful, and we're so excited to move in. Jason / Catalyst Construction did a complete remodel of a condominium my husband and I own in ATX, in late 2012. I'm writing this review in 2015, because every time I enter our condo even now I am thrilled with the way it looks. It housed our three children while they attended college; when the youngest graduated, the wear and tear of years of college living showed. We had Jason totally decimate the two bedroom / two bath unit, and replace everything. We had him cut down the counter between the kitchen and living area to open space and add more counter space. We had him add canned lights in the kitchen and bathrooms. We had new bathroom / kitchen cabinets, tubs, and toilets installed. We had new tile installed throughout the entire place. Everything was brand new. Jason finished the work a little earlier than he predicted, and the work is perfect. The details even down to the baseboards are amazing. Moreover, our condo neighbors told us they witnessed Jason making sure the work crew kept the area outside our unit clean as they worked; our neighbors appreciated Jason's consideration of our common property. We're facing some remodeling work at our property in SATX right now, and we really miss Jason. We wish he had a clone in SATX! Less
