We first encountered Gracepoint in early 2022 when my mother-in-law caught Covid from a caregiver with another company. The other company handled it very poorly (my MIL was notified by an anonymous phone call; they didn't have caregivers willing to sit with her, etc.). The hospice organization recommended Gracepoint, and we found that they had processes in place for dealing with Covid patients, they had caregivers ready to step in and take care of her, and they were much better organized in general. For some reason, we stuck with the other company for a while, but when they continued to have problems, we made the switch later that year and continued with them until my MIL passed away this week. I'm not sure what took us so long. Gracepoint always made sure there was someone there for her, even when she decided on short notice (and on more than one occasion) that she didn't want a particular caregiver to come back. Some of the caregivers grew to be true friends of hers. The client coordinators were easy to reach and very helpful, especially Kim as my MIL was fading. We live 1,200 miles away, and Kim was quick to respond to our questions and to keep us up-to-date about what was going on. Gracepoint has been helping my grandparents for years. My grandmother passed away this year and they have continued to provide care for my grandfather who is now in a hospital bed. Last week, he had not been himself for a couple of days and we thought we were going to lose him. Several family members went to see him on thanksgiving and thought they were doing to have to say goodbye. Then Carol, a wonderful caregiver from Gracepoint showed up the night of Thanksgiving. She had the wherewithal to say that PawPaw had to get to the hospital immediately. We rushed him to Springhill where they discovered several issues and his condition improved dramatically. The owner, staff, and the caretakers have been understanding with us as we learn to navigate this new aspect of our lives as a family. The staff have been friendly and flexible as things arise unexpectedly (because that’s life, right?) but they roll with those hiccups and you feel their support in trying to take care of your loved one with you. From the top down, owner/administartor, nurse in the field and actual caregiver we have been more than satisfied with Gracepoint. Communication is excellent and very well received. Nursing assessments are thorough and complete. The nurse communicates with other agencies, Hospice, to ensure they are on top of their job. Finally, I can't say enough about the service provided by the caregiver, Dianna. She goes above and beyond what is required of her to provide care for our father.
