Best spontaneous decision I've ever made. Went in to meet Jorge and Em with no expectations. Just had a frank conversation about what I was hoping to achieve from the sessions. Mostly just wanted to start moving my body to build up strength and stamina to run after my kids and hopefully one day my grandkids. After seeing first hand how old age affects muscle and bone density, I just wanted to give myself the best chance at remaining fit and mobile in the future. Six months later I can say with confidence that I am feeling stronger, running up stairs (escalators at Martin Place station are no joke), the back pain I would feel after carrying my 4 year old is gone.I've been training twice a week consistently with Em. She is super warm and caring and always makes sure to check in during the training session to see how I'm feeling. Very supportive and always provides great feedback on how to improve techniques.I was a bit intimidated before joining as I hadn't stepped foot in a gym in over 13 years, but the vibe is so friendly. The trainers and other gym members are so welcoming and banter is great. If investing 2 hours a week now means I live a longer, healthier life then sign me up! Would happily recommend the lift dept to anyone who's looking to start their fitness journey but feels like they don't know where to start.And the best part is, there's the cutest little dog hanging out at the gym if you time your sessions right.

Juggling working out with work commitments has always been my challenge but after four months I am absolutely loving The Lift Dept.Instead of using work as an excuse not to work out, I am now feeling energised and motivated from the work outs. I genuinely love the classes and don't want to miss them! I've lost 6 kilos and dropped two dress sizes ... plus I just feel strong which is an awesome feeling. My best days are always when I start them with a class.My goal up until now has just been to turn up but I'm starting to think about how I push myself further and set new ones. Emily and Jorge have created a fantastic encouraging environment where I feel I'm learning and seeing results. I particularly love Hass's Tuesday morning class! Thanks guys.

I had a PT session with Jorge recently and it was a great experience. He was extremely helpful in offering advice on how to adjust my lifts so I could get the best results, as well as highlighting ways to strengthen areas that needed focusing on. He was very patient and knowledgeable, and I’d recommend anybody wanting to improve their lifting skills to go in for a session

I love this gym. Jorge and Emily are such nice people and they genuinely love helping people to reach their fitness goal, whatever it may be. They won't try to subscribe you to any program. If you just want to show up and enjoy the class, the classes are very good by the way, they are just happy to see you there and would just make sure you do the exercises with the right technique. They also listen to feedbacks from members and implement changes to make the gym better.The members here are all very friendly and encouraged you to push yourself. Every class feels very much like just a bunch of friends who just enjoy exercising.I highly recommend this gym.

I started personal training with Jorge several months ago. I'm in my late 30s and had never stepped inside a gym before. As someone in the healthcare field I knew better but the embarrassment associated with poor fitness becomes a barrier in itself. I reached out to The Lift Department with a great deal of trepidation. However, Jorge and Emily were thoroughly professional, kind, and welcoming.When I did start training I realized how much I hate it. I hate every second of every minute in the hour long session that is spent lifting weights. My favourite part of the entire session is when I shake Jorge's hand on my way out. But I still keep going back and doing it because Jorge and Emily offer an environment that is friendly, familial even, and always non-judgemental. So for anyone new to this journey or starting over, I would recommend The Lift Department a thousand times!

My partner does the classes at The Lift Dept and told me to see Jorge since I wanted to improve my lifting. I did two PT sessions with him and we basically rebuilt my squat and deadlift from the ground up. He showed me how to breathe and brace properly and tie it all together, which made a huge difference. He even sent me summaries afterwards so I knew exactly what to keep working on. Definitely recommend him if you want to fine-tune your lifts and take them up a level!

Having never done any weight lifting before, I was nervous to begin but I can honestly say that it has been such an empowering experience. In both pt sessions and group classes, I learnt proper form and feel so much more confident to continue with this type of training. Both Jorge and Emily hold a wealth of knowledge and the gym has a genuine community atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Joined up in February and in terms of raw numbers I've lost 6 kilos, put 40 kilos on my deadlift, 20 kilos on my squat and 10 kilos on my bench press. TLD is great for those like me who struggle with programming training, as the programs at TLD are excellent and you just need to show up and do them. Jorge and Emily are fabulous trainers with great technical knowledge and will push you exactly as hard as you need in order to achieve results. The group class aspect also means that there is a strong community, there to both celebrate your wins as well as commiserate mid workout. All in all I cannot recommend TLD highly enough.

Though I am just starting off on my weight loss journey, I already feel light and confident and energetic. I have never missed going to the Gym before 🙄😁. I’ve tried many different gyms, classes, online workouts and Lift Dept Bexley is by far my favourite one. Theres so many good things about this gym; the trainers are amazing - Jorge is a legend; friendly, knowledgable & hilarious and Emily is the best; supportive, encouraging & kind.The class structure is great; a great mix of steady, heavy weights and then conditioning and cardio to push to your limits.I’m lifting weights I never thought I’d go near & it gives me such a sense of pride.And of course there’s the people. The people are cherry on the top - friendly & welcoming, and such cheerleaders. Everyone pushes each other & cheers each other on like no other gym I’ve seen. It also helps that they’re bloody hilarious. If you’re in the area & looking for a gym, I couldn’t recommend this more!
