When I first developed back pain I went to a general orthopedist who, by way of his exam & studies performed, found that I had several bulging discs in my lower back as well as spinal stenosis. He prescribed several conservative measures to help improve my issues but, unfortunately, they were all unsuccessful. As a last result my general orthopedist referred me to Dr Basra. On my first visit with Dr Basra he listened closely when I gave my past medical history & he thoroughly reviewed the results of prior related studies that Id brought with me.Dr Basra examined me & had addtl x-rays taken in his office after which he showed me their images on his computer & explained what/where my back problems were, after which, he told me that corrective surgery would be my best option moving forward.Dr Basra then advised me that, given the importance of what we’d just discussed, he wanted me to go home & talk about the possibility of me having surgery with my husband & to come back to see him again in 2 weeks. I liked that very much. I was not pressured into making a decision right then & there.I did return to see Dr Basra 2 weeks later, this time bringing my husband with me. Dr Basra went over things with him & patiently answered both of our questions. All along Dr Basra sat facing us, made eye contact with us & treated us with respect. There was no rushing the appt. No hand on the door.My husband & I agreed that having the surgery Dr Basra had recommended was the best option for me at that time..I had a lower back spinal fusion & laminectomy 3 weeks later. As my surgeon Dr Basra closely checked on me & ensured that my pain was managed while I was in the hospital. After being discharged I faithfully followed Dr Basra’s recovery instructions, went to PT, & kept my follow up appts. I’ll be frank & share that I initially had a lot of pain after my surgery (expected & common & unrelated to Dr Basra’s care)& I often minded the somewhat lengthy & sedentary recovery period. Dr Basra was very supportive & encouraging during those times.Dr Basra is very warm & friendly & upbeat. I actually look forward to seeing him. His office is spotless & his staff is very helpful, I’ve had very little waiting times, actually no waiting times) on my appt dates at Dr Basra’s office. My surgery was a complete success thanks to Dr Basra’s excellent care & skills. I can honestly say that presently, as well as for some time now, I’m feeling great, actually better than ever, and Ive regained my quality of life. Based on my very positive experience I highly recommend Dr Basra.
