We were here for a group meal so didn't see the rooms, but the food was excellent. We were in a perfect room so we could all sit together with 32 if us. Given that there was so many of us the service was very good. I had the steak and chips with peppercorn sauce and then crumble and creme anglaise. Steak was cooked to perfection it was all lovely and I'd highly recommend a visit. Sorry no photos it went in a flash.

Was there for a funeral and was good, great food for the buffet we had and the service was great. Especially the girl behind the bar. Will go back and try there other menus for a day out.

Went there for dinner and drinks.Atmosphere great - it’s just an amazing location, service was lovely - kept friendliness and patience even when it got busier.Food can be improved though by using more quality ingredients, in particular change of butcher to consider.

We did not stay overnight so rating is for our private dining roomSometimes arranging a meal for a large party can be stressful but not at The EV. James was very friendly, professional and accommodating and on the night everything was as we had agreed. The 2 young ladies who greeted us when we arrived in the bar area and who also assisted with the service were so friendly and helpful. Our private dining room was on the cold side but having said that it is winter. The radiators were on and a portable heater was in situ but we could have done with a few more. I would definitely book again as overall we had a great night.

I booked a Groupon afternoon tea as a gift for my friend based on venue and menu photos. We were shown into a very gloomy room that only had two tables occupied. Our table was without a cloth. I can only describe it as shabby. There was barely any veneer on it. The room looked sadly neglected. No atmosphere. A large table appeared to have just been left in the centre of the room with a cloth partially draped over it but nothing else on it. This room led into the conservatory which had featured in the Groupon photos but it appeared to be in use for something else.We were asked by the waitress for our tea/coffee/water preference which duly arrived with the afternoon tea. The selection was very different to the menu photos on Groupon. I realise that it may not always be possible to replicate the items as shown in the photos but for example to have only small sponge cakes and then only 5 pieces isn't really acceptable. There was one random thin chocolate stick. There were no savoury scones. The finger sandwiches that were on the outside of the row were dry.It was a disappointing and frankly embarrassing gift for my friend and this is not a venue I would choose to return to. I have given a 4 for service as tea and coffee were plentiful and the waiting staff were lovely. The 2 was for the drabness of the room and for the musty smell in the loos.
