We had a wonderful stay at Inn at St John in Portland! If you love historic charm and cozy New England character, this is the perfect place. The inn has a beautiful vintage feel with unique decor, comfortable rooms, and so much personality you just don’t find in chain hotels.The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out, and the GM was absolutely wonderful — so kind, helpful, and genuinely caring about guests having a great experience. The extra special housekeeping touches added amazing charm and made our stay feel even more warm and personal. Everything was very clean, and the complimentary breakfast and coffee were a great touch. Parking was easy, and the location made it convenient to explore Portland’s restaurants, shops, and waterfront.What really makes this place special is the atmosphere — charming, quirky, and relaxing all at once. It feels like stepping back in time in the best possible way. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, memorable stay in Portland!

As inns go, this was pretty much perfect! It's a bit outside of downtown (20 min walk/5 min bus ride with a stop right outside) and there can be some loud noise from the hospital across the street, but otherwise I had an excellent experience.All the staff seemed great, especially the daytime staff. There was a very kind and helpful gentleman at the front desk, who clarified charges and I even ended up being able to check in early. They're also relaxed about dropping off luggage early/leaving it there after check-out for no fee.The architecture and vibe of the inn is awesome, it felt very cozy, historical, and unique compared to a chain hotel. I had a single twin bed room with a private hallway bathroom, which was completely fine as it was really close to my room. Heating and amenities (TV, ice bucket, robe) were solid.Breakfast was as good as possible while being cold food only (aside from coffee/tea), there were plenty of options and a generous time range.I'll definitely be staying here the next time I'm in Portland!

I stayed in the King Luxury Suite for two days and nights. I was looking for a quiet, private getaway, and they delivered! The room was clean, the jet tub was excellent, and I couldn't hear a peep from outside.

Kind of an older establishment but its well kept and clean! Much nicer than some hotel chains I've been to. The room had lots of charm, and we all slept very well. One hot shower turned our bathroom into a steamroom :-)
